As I mentioned in an earlier post, Ashton has just finished up her first semester at college. She has decided to commute next semester. This will save her money, alot of money! She brought alot of items from her dorm room home last weekend and tonight brought the rest.
BuddyTheElf probably couldn't figure out for the life of him what was going on! Hmmm....all these boxes and bags coming in the door.
He did discover a huge box of snacks and food items she had stashed in her dorm room.
The kitchen was quickly filling up with stuff. In the upper left hand corner you can see Buddy looking out the window, wondering what the heck was happening to "his" house.

Where is she going to put all of the stuff?? Her room is already full with the first load of stuff. Good thing she has time off to start cleaning and organizing her bedroom before she has to work at the nursing home this weekend!
Ashton did have one request to have ready for her arrival today. Its the count-down to Christmas calendar we bought for our oldest son, Courtney, close to 30 years ago! It has a little teddy bear that one moves from pocket to pocket, counting down the days to the big day. It has always hung in the kitchen and tonight it hangs ready for Ashton to count down the days til Christmas. She may be a college freshman now but to me she is still the baby! I am so glad she enjoys our traditions and wants to continue them.

Merry Christmas to u and family
cheers
Awwww... that's so cute. It's so wonderful that you'll have Ashton home for Christmas. These years go by so quickly. I'm glad you'll have a little more time to enjoy with her in the house.
OH HO, the dog found the snacks....big surprise :)
Home, and sweet home, for the Christmas.
Reminds me when I moved back home from college. My parents were like, "where did you get all of these things?!". It's great that she remembers the countdown calendar. I think childhood memories are the best.
Kids don't often let you know, but they really do like the traditions.
Good luck to ashton in fitting her new life back into her old one. And to you too, Mom.
So this X'mas will be celebrated with extra happiness 'coz Ashton is here with u guys! And the count-down calender is very cute!
Ashton's moving home???!!! SUPER!!!
I just know y'all are thrilled!
It looks like Buddy the Elf likes it too (well the snacks). LOL
Aw, and what a sweet tradition. :~D
Mum's place is best. My daughters realise that.
I threaten her to go flatting, then she will realise how lucky she is. Shw works her sum, and decides mum is best.
It looks as if Ashton had almost as much stuff in her dorm room as my daughter had in her dorm room! I'm confident Ashton will have it all organized and put away by the weekend.
Lin Floyd: Yes, Christmas will be a very happy occasion in our home. All three children will be here for Christmas!
Tyazizul: Welcome! How nice you stopped by with holiday greetings. Stop by anytime!
Kay: After the initial shock of Ashton deciding to commute next semester, I realize how wonderful it will be to have her home more, time is so precious!
Gary's third pottery blog: Yup, BuddyTheElf's nose is on high alert whenever there may be the slightest possibility of food in the area!
rainfield61: Glad you stopped by with your nice comment.
Rose Belle: I did think to myself when Ashton started moving stuff back into the house "did she really take ALL that to college?" And its still waiting to be put away!!
Linda Reeder: I love it when one of my three children mention a tradition to me, I know that they do remember and enjoy them. My oldest son is very sentimental so I must always keep certain items around, especially Christmas ornaments! I think Ashton will quickly fit back into her "old life" and I am slowly getting accustomed to it again, but with happiness!
Dora: Hi! Yes, we are very pleased to have our daughter back home, it makes this Christmas even more special. Have you started any traditions for your little boy?
Dez: Yep, she's BAAACCCKKK!!! At first I was a tad worried, I had started to enjoy the "empty nest" a little but now I am so glad I have more time with her, in between her working at the nursing home/hospital and attending college, but I will take all the time I can get.
Ann: I agree, mum is best! I learned that when I was 18 and went to school and had my own apartment! I learned very quickly how much my mother had done for me all those years! But it was a great experience for Ashton to at least live in a college dorm for the first semester.
George: Hmmm....all organized by the weekend? Lets just say the "stuff" is still in the kitchen and some in her bedroom! I realize that there are a few more days til the end of the weekend but its not looking good...She just got called into work unexpectedly so we have had to postpone making our gingerbread house....let alone put her stuff away! Oh well...it will give MOM something to do later on!
