Here is a very simple and quick receipe with only four ingredients (three for me, as I don't put in the peanuts) and a favorite of all in my household. I don't know how many batches I made for Ben when he was in college, and both he and Mark like miniature marshmallows added to theirs.HAYSTACK CANDIES
1 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup peanuts (I omit these as I think its peanuty enough with the peanut butter)
2 cups crunchy chow mein noodles
Microwave the butterscotch chips and peanut butter on 50% power for 3 to 5 minutes stirring until mixture is smooth. Add peanuts and chow mein noodles and blend to coat noodles thoroughly. Drops by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Once firm, store in an airtight container.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
This is what I discovered today when out walking. The culvert is at the end of the little pond and I was amazed at all of the ice and its thickness. Water was still spilling out from under the massive chunk of ice on the right hand side.

looks so icy cold, cheryl.. i think i like to laze around at the warmth of your house during this time.. and eat some candies..! :0
Thks for the quick recipe. Wow, it must be very cold there now!
The snow and ice look beautiful -- I'll try not to think about how cold it must be up there. My mom used to make haystack cookies very similar to the ones you make. The sure were good!
I love the last photo and your quote :)
Thanks for the recipe, I'll have to try that.
I cannot believe the water was still running, despite all of the ice!
I love to see animal tracks in the snow.
Wonderful photos!!!
reanaclaire: You are welcome to laze around my house and certainly eat lots of candies, while looking at the snow outside.
Pete: This receipe is a family favorite for sure. It is about 20 degrees here today. Its about average for this time of year.
George: Even with the cold, the snow and ice are very pretty to look at. If we have to be cold we might as well have something pretty to look at!
Marci: Glad you stopped by. I love looking for different tracks as I snowshoe. I have a guide that I look tracks up on and discover just who they belong to.
