The return of Ashton

She's back. She's back for good. She being Ashton. It wasn't too long ago that most of the stuff in this photo was off to a dorm room at college. Just ask her stepdad about how many trips he and Eric made up and down three flights of stairs to get her moved in. No elevator!
Ask me how I spent days sniffling and snuffling over my "empty nest". How my baby had gone out into the big, big world. However I was starting to adjust to the quiet, to not being asked "do you have any money" as well as hardly any laundry anymore and the light bill dropping!
She has decided that she wants to commute to college for the spring semester that will start in January. She has a full two-day schedule next semester as well as taking three extra credits. She is able to ride with Eric as he has one semester left at his school. So this coming summer Ashton plans on working ALOT so that she can buy a car before college starts next fall.
The commute will take about two hours round trip and she will save ALOT of money not having to pay room and board and purchasing a food plan.

P.S. The above photo isn't quite "accurate" as Ashton still has more "stuff" to bring home before the end of the semester! She plans on spending several hours "rearranging" her room during Christmas break. With Mom's supervision.

Yipes..... I'm not sure that is good news, Cheryl.. As much as we LOVE our kids, there comes a time when they need to MOVE on....

BUT----no it will be Mom's turn to re-adjust... Hope it works out... I don't know whether to be happy for you or not... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Let me guess...she likes princess theme things and she likes the color pink? Isn't it great to have your "little" back home? Well, at least she's motivated and looking forward to working in the summer to buy her own car. Two hours of commute does sound like a long drive but if it will save her a lot of money doing so, then good for her to think so money consciously!

Yippee!!! I bet you are happy! Sure, you adjusted, but you'll adjust again. She won't be there forever. I would enjoy it while it lasts.

She will save a lot of money doing the commute but I hope it won't be too taxing. That's a far distance. You have a bit of a reprieve. That empty nest will happen again soon enough. At least you've had a dry run.
