It snowed!

We had our first snowstorm last night and early this morning. Here on the coast we had about 5 inches of snow. Enough so I could go snowshoeing!

Here is my faithful snowshoe companion Buddy. He donned his brown suede jacket for our first snowshoe trip of the winter. He entertained himself for a few minutes trying to catch a mouse running around near the backyard. Luckily for the mouse Buddy didn't accomplish his mission.
This photo shows the edge of the stream in back of our house. It was starting to freeze up when we were almost done with our outdoor fun.
The garden fairies are now snow fairies!
It will certainly be awhile now before one can sit and relax!

Oh wow! I do remember those days of snow and ice. There's such beauty on a snowy day.

You've captured the beauty of our first snowfall, and of Buddy's trying to get the mouse. Little Budster certainly has an extensive wardrobe, hasn't he?

Snow shoes? You gotta be kidding me. I have not seen snow shoes since I was up north in Japan in 1953. And there I saw guys being pulled around on skies to get from one place to another. Pulled by a weasel machine.

Your snow shoes are modern looking.

always wanted to go snowshoeing but now I'm happy to not have to get in the snow or live near it.

You got more snow than we did, but I'm glad you were able to go snowshoeing. That's something I've never done, but I would like to try.

Gorgeous Cheryl.. You all much more snow than we did. However the cold air is still with us (19 when we got up this morning)--so much of our snow is still with us.

Gorgeous pictures!!! Thanks!

Look at all that snow! We don't get snow in San Francisco. As a matter of fact, I have only touched snow just once in my life. It was during a holiday trip to a town called Lake Tahoe. It must be freezing in Maine right now! The white blanket of snow must be a thing of beauty to look at.

SNOW! How fun! It took me a while to figure out what that first picture was. Can you believe I've never seen a pair of snow shoes? The ones worn on movies/tv shows are usually hidden in the snow. LOL
Love that chair! We used to have some just like that - and in Red too! Beautiful pictures!

Kay: I imagine you are enjoying your sunny and warm days more than we are our cold and snowy ones! And yes, the snow and ice can be very pretty.

Aunt Jean: I figure I might as well enjoy winter...its going to be here for some time. And yes, the Budster loves his suede jacket and likes to wear it in the house. Do you knit sweaters for dogs?

Abraham Lincoln: Yep, snowshoes and in pink even! I snowshoe every single day there is snow. We can snowshoe on many of the trails here as well in our own backyard. Mine are aluminum and my husband has an older canvas type pair.

Lin Floyd: I love snowshoeing as it has given me a way to enjoy the long winter. Otherwise I hibernate!

George: We are going to get another big storm tonight, up to 6 inches here on the coast. If you had snowshoes you could look for waterfalls (frozen ones?)in the winter, if you had any snow.

Betsy from Tennessee: Your snow was beautiful, just enough! We still have some with a big storm coming in tonight. I will be more than happy to ship you some!

Linda Reeder: I must say the snow has put me into the holiday mode! Snow does make it seem more Christmasy here.

Rose Belle: The snow is still here with more on its way. The temperatures were in the high 60s just a few days ago and then snow! It has been in the 40s the past couple of days. The temps in the winter here are around 20s and 30s! Brr...

rainfield61: I will be posting more snow photos for you to show your son!

Uncle Lee: We are going to get several more inches of snow starting this evening. I was happy with what we already got! We don't ski but snowshoe instead, alot less expensive. My daughter and sons learned to ski when they were in school through a program to get kids outside in the winter. My daughter loves to ski butand hopes to very soon. I am afraid I might break something :) Take care and stay inside with something nice and warm to drink!

Dez: I forgot that many do not know what snowshoes are! I would love to trade them for barefeet in a nice, warm place! I took up snowshoeing to get me outside and for the exercise, winter seems to bring some extra weight my way....
Isn't that chair neat? My grandmother had them and that is why I bought this one recently and painted it.

Patty: Your location must get alot of cold and snow doesn't it? Gosh I wish I lived in Florida or Hawaii...
