Vacation days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Mark is on vacation this week. This morning we headed out to Camden, about an hour from where we live. We had breakfast at Moody's Diner, to get fueled up for a hike up Mt. Battie.
We hiked up the Tablelands Trail to the top of Mt. Battie.
Alot of rocks to climb over and around. Some of the trail was a little hard to navigate.
Here is the view at the end of our climb. A tower given to the citizens of Camden, Maine, for their dedication and service during WWI by the Mount Battie Association in 1921. There is a circular staircase inside which we climbed to the top. A truly beautiful monument.
Looking out over the ocean and Camden harbor is to the right. It was the perfect day to be there. Sunshine and a gentle breeze.
Closer view of Camden Harbor. This is where the movie "Peyton Place" was filmed.
We hiked back down to the parking area after an hour of admiring the view from the mountain top. I snapped this photo of the tower as we were driving down near the Camden waterfront.
Monday we hiked Ovens Mouth. I was so delighted to see the curly petals of asters, I had to get photos. I really like to take my time and really look things over!
Its not always the end result, sometimes its the journey there that fascinates! This unfolding flower is just as pretty at this stage as it is in bloom.

This tree was loaded with apples, bright red apples!
We saw a heron patiently awaiting his or her lunch!
At the end of the hike we passed by these pretty leaves, a pretty finale to the day.
Guess what Mark is doing on Wednesday? He has the kayak all loaded onto his Jeep and is planning on going fishing. He invited me along but tomorrow I have my second Synvisc-One injection into my right knee. That's why we hiked today, tomorrow I have to take it easy. I had my first injection almost two weeks ago into my left knee and I overdid it. So tomorrow will be a "quiet" day for me. We haven't decided what we will do on Thursday yet.

Hi Cheryl, Looks like you two are having a great week. That hike up to the tower was NEAT. The view is so pretty from up there. I remember Peyton Place...

Your other hike to Ovens Mouth was neat also. The flowers, colorful leaves and apples all reminded me of Autumn.

Take it easy tomorrow. I'm sure that hubby will enjoy his fishing.. You certainly don't want to over-do...

Hugs,
Betsy

Looks like you had some beautiful hikes. Your pictures are so well done. I love the sunlight and shadows of the trees. The tower is so neat. I love the unfolding flowers. I also love the read leaves in the second to last photo.

I hope you’re able to rest your knee.

Thanks for taking us along on your hike. The tower itself is very nice and the view from the tower is absolutely gorgeous!

We didn't get up to Camden this summer, so it was nice to visit it via your blog. I love Mt. Battie and the Edna St. Vincent Millay plaque up there: "...I turned and looked another way and saw three islands in a bay...." We've never hiked Battie, though.
