This and that...

Ashton was home for the weekend. She offered to set up my webcam for me so we can "chat" while she is away at school. She and I companionably sat side by side using our laptops. It was nice.
It was nice to have her home, spending time with us, eating meals with us even! She was busy though working the 3:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. shift at the nursing home. This is the first time she has worked this schedule. She usually works a six hour shift. However, college costs $$$
We walked on Porter's Preserve yesterday. Found this Fairy House. Someone had a fun time setting it up.

A random shot. I liked how the sunlight seemed to come through the berries.
Found a cobweb on a piece of grass while walking at Dodge Point on Thursday. It just intrigued me.

This book was a great read. One of those "I can't put it down" books. I highly recommend it.
Ashton and I had a mini shopping trip this evening. I couldn't resist buying her these socks. As most of you know I buy her holiday themed socks. I started buying her the holiday themed socks when she was just barely toddling. College freshmen can still wear fun socks!
We went to Kohl's and I couldn't believe my eyes....they had Christmas decorations up! Three months til Christmas and the store had a huge section of ornaments, trees and lights. I did succumb to the pressure and bought this cute "Baby's First Christmas" ornament for a little fellow. I figured I was avoiding the "rush"!

Hi Cheryl, I know you were thrilled to have your baby at home. Glad she got your set up... Are you using Skype? That's what we use with our kids.

Love holiday socks. I used to have bunches of them--and wore them --even when I was a middle age adult (and still working)... I loved them!!!!

Can't believe that Christmas stuff is out already... GADS!!!

Have a great Sunday.
Hugs,
Betsy

Betsy: We've had a great weekend with Ashton. I was so happy when she told me how lucky she was to come from a small town where everyone cared for you and that she had had great teachers. I think being away for almost a month has been the best thing for her. I too used to wear holiday socks to work. I don't know why I stopped...

Joyce: Thanks for stopping by and leaving such nice comments. Ashton has plans to hook me up with Skype, she already uses it. Gosh I don't know how I would figure out half this computer stuff if I didn't have kids to help me!

reanaclaire: So nice to have you stop by. Wow, three teenagers! I bet your cameras will be used alot while your son is in Italy! Now I need to learn about Skype!

Kay: So happy to hear from you. Isn't it amazing and wonderful how you can keep in touch with your dear family with all the computer stuff?? When I went to college I had to call home from a pay phone in the hallway!!

Lin: Thanks for stopping by. I am looking forward to using the webcam and Skype. No excuse not to keep in touch is there?

Hey Cheryl!
How wonderful that Ashton got to come home for a visit!
My SIL keeps telling me to get a video set up. I really don't have an excuse. I'll have to get one so we can with family and friends!
Your pictures are beautiful, as usual! Thanks for the great sights to see!

Dez: Hello! Now the hard part comes when Ashton goes back to college and I have to figure out this webcam stuff by myself! But it will be great to talk with friends, especially those in Texas! Take care.

Skype's the thing!
I love that little fairy house. It reminds me of a young readers novel that I loved as an adult and can't remember the name of. Oh dear.

I love the picture of the little fairy house. :)

The socks are so cute! So is the Christmas stocking even though it's not even October yet.

I'm sure you'll enjoy doing the web cam with Ashton. I can't believe she worked a 3 to 3 shift! I wish I had that energy!
