Autumn has arrived

According to the calendar today is the first day of autumn. It still felt like a summer day to me.
The dead Queen Anne's Lace in the foreground and the living one in the background seemed ironic to me, being as one season is ending and another beginning....
And this aster is still blooming, uncurling itself to reach high for the sky!
This group of Queen Anne's Lace was still tall and proud!
Found a new bud in the garden..
And an opening blossom to smile upon us one more time....

Nice post! I love how the flowers are still around, not accepting that it's fall yet. The Queen Anne's Lace still standing tall and proud (well, some of them), the new bud, the pretty flower at the end--so lovely!

Is summer trying to hang on up there, Cheryl??? We still have very little color down here (other than the dogwoods).. We need some cooler weather so that our leaves will start changing. BUT--this past week, we've had nothing but rain, high humidity, mild temperatures, and just plain cloudy/dreariness. Yuk!!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

Those brown eyed Susans just keep on coming, as does our sunny weather here in Seattle.

Patty and I have slowly been pulling up flowers and cutting grass clumps back trying to get ready for the first snow, frost or freeze.

It looks like you have been busy too and your camera produced some detailed photos.

Thanks for visiting and commenting about the squirrel.

Autumn is slowly coming to Tennessee, although it is still quite warm. Although the roses are still blooming, they are about the last of our flowers.

Hi Cheryl! I haven't been around lately, but wondering how you've been handling life lately. I must say that I love the new look of your blog and the name. I hope you are settling in some, but I am quite sure you have moments that are not fun. Keep busy! Your photographs are stunning!

Lucy the Cat: Thanks for visting. I tried to capture the flowers still standing firm, even though the season was coming to an end!

Lin: I am thrilled to be "shown" to your blogging students! I've arrived!!

Betsy: Hope the sun is shining down on you today. A wee bit of color in my area starting to peek through.

Linda Reeder: I love how the brown-eyed susans keep on blooming, not giving in!

Abe Lincoln: I have not started the real clean-up for fall, its as if I dread doing it, signaling the end of summer!

George: Thanks for stopping by. Your roses are just breathtaking, sure wished I could grow roses as well as you do.

Sharodindu: Thanks for stopping by and leaving the nice comments.

Joyce's Journey: So glad you stopped by, have missed you. My blog name change and look actually were done by Ashton, she is helping me through everything! She obviously sees that "Mom" needs a change as well. Thanks for your kind words!

All the photos are beautiful. They show signs more of spring than they do of autumn!! I especially love the second photo. That is amazing!

Hi Cheryl, Autumn always brings to mind Johnny Mathis's song, 'Autumn leaves'.
Its the most beautiful time of the year.
Have fun and keep a song in your heart, best regards, Lee.
ps, you're a great photographer....like looking at National Geographic.

Mar: Hello! Your comment about it looking more like spring than autumn was great, that is what I wished it was! I've learned to enjoy each and every season through the lens.

Uncle Lee: Thanks for stopping by and leaving your nice comment. I love the Johnny Mathis song words. Very appropriate. Glad you like my photos.
