Sunday morning we very reluctantly packed up to head home from Rangeley. This was the pretty view we left behind.

We took a different route home. We went to the Eustis area where Ashton goes frequently with Eric and his family. We stopped by the side of the road here and just took in the beautiful view. There was a bridge right next to this spot, this is where Ashton informed me they jump from whenever they go swimming!

We saw American flags lining the road in several towns along our route. Here in our own area last week flags were installed on poles along the main route into the Harbor. A couple of gentlemen started the drive to line our roads with the flag. Its an amazing (and beautiful) sight to see.

We just loved seeing the mountains. Here on the coast we don't see any. The big mountain in the background is Sugarloaf Mountain, where Ashton and her friends go to ski. Not me.

On our way through New Portland we detoured so Mark could see the Wire Bridge.
http://newportlandmaine.org. I have seen it many times, having grown up in the area. Almost every visit to my grandmother's would end with a trip to "see" the Wire Bridge.

One last thing, we didn't realize a cat came with our cabin rental! This pretty cat seemed quite at home, sneaking in behind us. She was very friendly and probably belonged to the owners. When we left on Sunday she was sitting on the porch of the neighboring cabin, staring in the window! Probably thinking of a way to "visit" the occupants!

I am so pleased that my two little hyrangea plants I bought at the grocery store (!) have bloomed several times over the summer. I don't have a green thumb but somehow these plants have managed to survive.

Great pictures! I would be reluctant to leave too! I love the flags, the wire bridge and the flowers! I hope Buddy got to go with you!
Oh Cheryl, You live in such a gorgeous section of the country. I loved this past---and all of the great photos. That mountain picture is terrific. I can just see Ashton skiing there. AND--I love that bridge. WOW--what a beauty.
Love those flags also... SO patriotic!
Glad you made it home safely... Glad you also had a wonderful weekend.
Hugs
Betsy
It is so good to see the Wire Bridge again, Cheryl. Grammy and Fenton were so proud to take visitors to see it. I've heard of amenities included in one's room/cabin rental, but this is the first time I've heard of a cat being included. Your second photo here is my very favorite...for this time.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I think I would have been scared to walk on that bridge! It's good I wasn't there....I would have had to bring the cat home :) Great photos!
Lucy the Cat: No pets are allowed in the rentals. So Buddy stayed home with Ashton. However, the cat must come with the cabins! Must be the owners cat. Buddy would be soooo offended if he saw his dad holding a cat!!
Betsy: We are going to search out more waterfalls in our area, and maybe some day get to your area and see some waterfalls!
Aunt Jean: I thought of Grammy as we came to Kingfield. And that is what triggered the thought of taking Mark to see the wire bridge. I can remember taking Grammy to see the bridge many times when I visited her! I took Mom and our Texans two years ago to see it. Mark was impressed!
Mar: When walking across it, it really isn't bad. Now driving across it is a little unnerving! I remember as a child being so scared when we would drive over it! The first time I drove over it I think I had my eyes closed! And poor Buddy had to stay home with Ashton, he would have ignored the cat anyways!
I would find it very hard to leave that beautiful cabin as well. The wire bridge is interesting and I like seeing the flags along the road. I wish more towns would do that.
looks like a fun time and great sights to visit
I have seen one bridge similar to this one but it is much smaller and shorter. It sways in the wind and I suspect your wire bridge does too.
Great pictures Cheryl. The road with the flags looks like one around here.
We've made it a tradition to go see the Wire Bridge every year. In honor of Grammy and Grampy Dunphy!
