Spotted the white egret and a plover in the saltwater marsh behind our home this afternoon. BuddyTheElf took me for a nice walk. Today has been just perfect, 70's and sunny.

Thursday evening we took a long walk at Dodge Point. This pretty little pink flower caught my eye. I was equally impressed by the little "curliques" on the flower as well.

We walked down to the Damariscotta River to the site of a former brickyard. Its on a tidal river and the tide was low. I never cease to be delighted by the pile of bricks that someone has stacked around a tree near the shoreline.

Saturday we took a hike on another nearby Preserve, in Damariscotta. The trail leads to a beautiful fresh-water lake. We sat on a little beach and just relaxed. The weather was perfect.

Yikes! I spotted this one branch of colorful leaves. It cannot mean Fall is coming can it?

Took this photo earlier in the week. We walked one of our favorite trails, the Porter Preserve. We had a picnic on a rock on the shore as it was a beautiful evening. This photo is one of my favorites. A lone sailor enjoying a late summer afternoon on the water.

I took this photo from a second story window at the local Lobsterman's Co-op the night of my brother-in-law Robbie's birthday party. I should have gone down the steps and snapped the photo I thought afterwards but now it seems to grow on me!

A little fun here.....Mark has been to Jamaica three times and I have been there twice. Never in those trips have we found anything like this cute turtle. We usually bring home hand-painted crafts and jewelry. Only my mom could find this turtle here in Maine at a rummage sale for 50 cents!

Yes, you ARE looking at a parrot on the girl's shoulder and yes, there ARE two more birds in the cage she is carrying on her back! We couldn't believe it when we saw her walking along a trail with two dogs as well. The cage was in a "backpack" which looked custom-made just for it and the parrot stayed right on her shoulder.

Great pictures and the weather looks perfect for picture taking.
The "curliques" on the flowers are so cute.
I have to admit I’m cheered by the changing of the leaves’ colors. I’m very much looking forward to fall.
The rest of the pictures are very good as well. This is a very entertaining post. I love the bird backpack!
Lucy says hi to Buddy the Elf!
Looks like some great hikes/walks you all have had. Hope you are doing okay--missing your little gal.. I'm sure it's still hard at times. BUT--staying busy and enjoying life helps!!!!!
Thanks for the pictures. Beautiful area!!!! I cannot get over the girl and her birds and dogs. Goodness!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
fun photos, I love late summer when temps begin to cool off.
Cheryl!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited to be connected to the internet finally. Couldn't get a connection on Oahu, but we're now at "our condo" on Kauai, and wireless internet is included. The ocean is right outside our livingroom lanai. Can you hear the surf? More later. Just had to say "Aloha."
P.S. The pinkish flower looks like an orchid to me. A wild orchid, maybe?
Really cool photos, Cheryl. That pink flower looks like some kind of pea plant. It does look like a little fall taking a peek doesn't it?
Mom not so fast on the foliage change lets not rush it . That is a red maple, and many have been affected by blight and Anthrachnose this summer due to the wet start of summer.neither are usually fatal to the tree unless it occurs in succesive years and defoliates the tree. the leaves probably are on a tree that may have suffered from root compaction or is in a wet location. usually ash turns first in the fall.in the spring it is "Oak before ash, just a splash,Ash before oak in for a soak"
OH, those are some beautiful pictures! You have a great eye for catching just the right pic!
Fall... the change of the leaves to beautiful colors... Ah, I can only dream about that.
Here in south Texas, we only get 2 seasons. Summer, and semi fall. Temps sometimes get cooler, but no colorul trees. :(
Five years ago we got snow for the first time in 100 years, on Christmas Eve!! Usually, it is high eighties on Christmas. So, beach time is not out of the question after a big meal.
