UPDATE: Ashton went to Eric's to watch THE RACE and I was afraid the macaroni and cheese she had requested would be for naught.....HOWEVER, she drove home to eat dinner with Mark and me! Notice the little face peeking or trying to snatch something to eat, between Mark and Ashton. So Ashton is off to watch the rest of THE RACE with leftovers packed for Eric and apple crisp for dessert!
Thursday night we picked up Ashton from college. She has a break until Wednesday morning. I bet no one even imagined Ashton would think of stopping at Wal-Mart on her way home! I got some red yarn for a project that I am working on and Ashton got some crafting materials. Mark and BuddyTheElf just waited for us in the car!
Friday I treated Ashton to a manicure. It was great spending the day together. We got some errands taken care of and then home to make a meal that she had requested.....
Thats what she wanted for dinner! She worked at the nursing home both Saturday and Sunday, as well as take care of a dog for family! She is off to visit with Eric now as he has been away since Thursday. Tonight she has requested macaroni and cheese for dinner. Comfort food!As I mentioned earlier, I am working on a project that you can read about here: http://orphan.org/index.php?id=40. Some of you may remember that last year I knit several red scarves for this project. I hope to make a few more this time. Its a very worthwhile project.

That's great that you got to spend some time with Ashton this weekend. It sounds like a packed weekend with all you did and she worked. I had to laugh at her dinner choice. Actually, it sounds good, but I just thought if she's away from home cooking, that she would want something more when she comes home. At least it was easy for you!
That's a great project that you contribute to! I may look into doing something like that next year. I would need to start way in advance.

Now that's a beautiful manicure job! Macaroni and cheese? Awwww.... It used to be my kids' favorite comfort food, too. I love the color of your yarn.
making christmas projects already-guess it is the time for that...
I'm glad you were able to have some time with Ashton over the weekend. As a father I know it is also nice to know that our 'little girls' may grow up and older, but some things don't change. My daughter still likes macaroni and cheese as well.
Mac and cheese was a favorite here too. And I just recently had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich tto, something I almost never eat, and it was soooo good.
Lovely bonding with your daughter.
A busy day. I enjoyed the post with Ashton. I was somewhat surprised at the meal but then my granddaughter is like that.
Ashton's culinary tastes have a way to go, I must say. But when I was her age, all I knew how to make was popcorn, Hamburger Helper, and the occasional French toast!
Lucy the Cat: All three of my kids seem to be "comfort food" people. Believe me, when I go out to eat I want more than "comfort food"!
Kay: Its funny isn't it what children love to eat! And Ashton's college dining hall seems to have a huge array of foods to try but she tends to stick to mac and cheese!
Lin Floyd: These scarves will go to young people who are orphans and now are on their own, in college, etc. I like the fact that the project is "a hug" for someone!
George: I agree about our little girls 100%. Ashton is trying hard to become more independent but still falls back on Mom whenever necessary. I love it!
Linda Reeder: Thanks for stopping by. I love p.b. and fluff sandwiches myself!
Abe Lincoln: Glad you visited. Kids are kids I guess, wherever they are and how ever "old" they are!
Aunt Jean: My tastes at that age were popcorn, tomato soup and chicken noodle soup. I was living in a boarding house with about 20 other people while I was in college. Oh and Kraft mac and cheese. To this day I really don't like tomato soup or boxed mac and cheese!
It's so nice to see a person as young as Ashton being so together, family oriented and responsible.
I would have been wise to take lessons from someone like her when I was that age.
Hi! First time here, and I couldn't help but miss my mom while reading your posts. Thank you so much. God Bless!
James: Thanks for your visit today and nice comments. Thanks! I do think my daughter is quite mature for just turning 18 and all she has accomplished already in her life but then again, I am biased! All one can do is guide their children the best they can. It has to be within themselves to push further! I too would have been alot better off if I had been more like her! Ah to be 18 again....
Odessa: Thanks for your nice comments and so glad you visited my blog. Come back again. Off to check out your blog now!
Haven't had Cambell Chicken noodles for quite some time...LOL!
oh, you are so nice, ms. cheryl! no wonder ashton is such a loving, caring girl, too! odessa is my dear friend and we are both nurses. we would gladly welcome such a dear girl to the fold!~~~God bless you for sharing your skill (kintting) to benefit others!
Great photo! I didn't even see Buddy until I read the post :) So cute!!
Good luck with your project. It is so nice of you to do that.
How wonderful that Ashton could have some quality time with you and Mark - and Buddy too!
I too was surprised at her choice of peanut butter & canned soup, seeing as she could have mom's home made food! My kids loved Jeffrey loved macNcheese too! The funny thing... he loved the "blue box" of mac, instead of my homemade mac! Hmmmfff!
