Saturday was a sunny and mild day to hike. We chose to hike the Marshall E. Saunders Memorial Park which is not too far from our home.

We took the More Difficult trail down to a stream and a trail that follows along a brook and leads to a peaceful marsh. However we chose the Easier trail to hike back on! Its quite a steep trail down over large ledges.

I took this photo of leaves reflected in a puddle. It looked pretty cool!

Mark hiked over a large pile of rocks where a bridge used to stand. The preserve used to be the site of a sawmill and a brickyard.

The colors are slowly changing here in Maine.

A meadow we hiked to. It was very peaceful and we sat for a while on a ledge that bordered it.

Photo of where Kelley Brook flows into Pleasant Cove which in turn flows into the Damariscotta River.

Sunday I walked on the Zak Preserve and was delighted to spot a birds nest hanging right over the trail. I am always amazed by the construction the birds undertake for their nests.

Another reflection shot, the trees looked so nice reflected in the brook. This was taken from the Zak Preserve side of Wildcat Creek which borders our property. This view is looking towards our backyard. Some of the trees on our side have already turned color and are starting to look bare.

What pretty hikes you took. The photo of the leaves reflected in the brook had me fooled; I didn't realize I was looking at a reflection.
When I lived in NJ (twenty years ago!!) we used to go for hikes. I so miss that. There is no place to hike here in south Florida - well, at least no where the same as up north. Your hike looks like it was just beautiful. You captured some phenomenal shots!! I didn't realize you lived in Maine. I was thinking you were in North Carolina - don't know what I was thinking that! Maine - how beautiful. My brother lives in Vermont and I haven't been able to get up there to visit him yet. I hope to soon!
hi Cheryl, it is autumn over there now, right? i marvel at God's creation..they r so beautiful... my son who is in florence italy now also admires how beautiful the country is... so amazing..
u really keep well, cheryl..
Aunt Jean: We are very fortunate in that we have over a dozen plus trails to hike here in the region. I really like the reflection photo myself!
Joyce's Journey: Hi, glad you stopped by. Vermont must be beautiful right about now, have never been there. You will have to bring hiking boots if you visit your brother!!
reanaclaire: Glad you visited today. Yes, here we have four seasons, although my favorite is summer out of all of them. Fall is just beautiful and can be quite warm. We live near the coast so our winter is quite light. We do get enough snow though to shovel and plow! I would love to visit Italy. What a great opportunity for your son. Take care.
lovely Maine=several years ago we came in Oct to see the autumn colors and it was spectacular. Beautiful place to live and lovely reflection photos.

Hi Cheryl,

Ah, Maine, that other lovely northern corner of the country!
Beautiful Cheryl.... Looks like you all had a wonderful walk. We hiked today--and saw some new waterfalls. SO pretty!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy--who is on my laptop in Dillard, GA
Like the way the bird built the nest. I thought it was ant nest...LOL!
This is too too wonderful, Cheryl! Your photos are spectacular. Thank you for taking us along on your walk. I'd have taken the easier both ways but I'm glad you did the more difficult one for us so you could capture your beautiful sights. I love the reflection of the golden leaves. They look like stained glass! Wow!
Great shots. That looks like a wonderful place to walk. I love the bottom photo it would be perfect for my Weekend Reflections meme.
Hello Cheryl, love your pics. You're a good photographer, like looking at National Geographic.
I guess Maine and Ontario have a lot in common where Autumn leaves come out in all their glory.
I love the hike signs...and that reflection pic is outstanding!
Any sign that says, 'Impossible', or, 'don't even think about it'? Ha ha.
Incidentally I just put out a new posting re our Ontario Fall colours.
Winter is coming early, already the temp is down to 0'c. And frost in the mornings.
You stay warm and keep well, Cheryl. Have a great weekend, Lee.
simply beautifully captured shots...lovely colours of the season!
Wow! The last reflection shot is one of the best I've ever seen. The fact that it includes the sky, so clearly, is awesome. Great photo!!
The birds nest is quite amazing. Do you know what bird that is from?
A wonderful series of photos! Great to see the beautiful autumn colors.
What a wonderful hike! Thanks for taking us along. I didn't even get tired!
These are just beautiful photographs. I wish I could get out and walk about again, but can't. So am glad you guys can and at the same time take pictures of where you went.
Great photos! Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment, it is very nice of you. I hope you will have a great week.
Cheryl, what beautiful pictures!! I too was fooled by the leaves in the reflection! I loved especially the trees and clouds reflected in the water! Thanks for taking us on your hike with you. Otherwise, I'd never have any "hiking pictures"! (cuz we don't hike!)LOL
