Snow day-play day!

New Year's Eve I spent some time de-cluttering the house. Yesterday both Mark and I worked on the same project during the afternoon. We ended up donating a huge bag of clothing to the local hospital's Thrift Shop, several bags of books to the library's Used Book Store and a few bags straight to the landfill. It seemed a very appropriate way to end 2009 and to begin 2010 with somewhat of a clean slate!
We have had snow since Thursday. It stopped for a few hours late Thursday night and started again yesterday morning. Its still snowing on Saturday night. We are predicted here on the coast to get between 14-22 inches but at this point we might have about six or seven. I am more than happy with the accumulation right now, its enough to go snowshoeing on. Yesterday we didn't go out to snowshoe as the snow was heavy from rain that we received overnight. So, today we finally made it out to the woods.
It is very pretty. The temperature wasn't too bad, about 20 something. So Mark, myself and Buddy had a nice hour or so enjoying the fresh air and beautiful landscape.
I couldn't resist! I haven't made a snow angel for many, many years but just like riding a bike it came back to me! How fun it was to be a kid again, for at least a minute or two! Give it a try!

The hard part is getting down and harder yet, getting back up. LOL I would need something to hold on to, knees are what they use to be, and then to get back up, I have to almost throw my body over a chair and pull myself up. Nothing works like it use to 25 years ago.
Here's wishing you and your family a Happy, Healthy New Year.

Oh, my word, a snow angel. Haven't made one in years. Our previous chocolate Lab, Murph, used to LOVE making snow-dog angels. Molly's just not into it, I'm afraid.

It's like a winter wonderland there! It's so pretty! Gosh, when it's the high 20's here, I'm too cold to go out for a walk. I have to say you're heartier folks than we are. If only I could keep my face warm. I love your snow angel! I've always wanted to snowshoe. Great job on cleaning out your stuff! I love the feeling of doing that.

It's been years since I made a snow angel as well. Of course, since I left the Midwest I haven't had much snow to work with. Your snow pictures are gorgeous. It sounds as if you've gotten the new year off to a good start.

I have heard from lots of folks who thoroughly clean for the new year. Not me. I finally started taking down decorations today, and will finish tomorrow. Then there will be cleaning before I put things back on shelves.
I think a good snowfall would be great, but we have no storms in the offing.

LOL...I did some decluttering too. Rounded up with 2 black trash bags of clothes and two boxes of toys to donate to Goodwill. The house certainly feel lighter and cleaner. Geez, and all the snow you got there! It certainly is pretty :)

Oh Cheryl, I love it..... I would be right there with you-making snow angels.... Oh how much fun that would be. I'm so jealous of your beautiful snow. That's the type of snow I love---the kind which clings to everything. It is so pretty.

We are very cold here tonight. Going down to about 10 degrees or lower.... Yuk!!!

Keep sending those beautiful snow pictures.
Hugs,
Betsy

Congratulations! Good for you for both the cleaning and the snow angel. You have both the grown up and the child in you. :-)

Wow. More snow. We got 2° this morning and no new snow. I did sleep through the night in the chair without waking up or coughing myself sick. That is nice. Maybe I am getting over this cold, finally.

cleaning on the first is AWESOME :) and your woods looks like our snowy woods, sigh....

You've spent end of 2009 in the best manner possible :de-cluttering the house and giving away for charity.

You've greeted the 2010 New Year with a clean house and a walk in Nature. Perfect.

Margaret: Yup it felt mah-velous as a matter of fact.

Patty: I had on my snowshoes and thought this is great, now what?? But hubby was there for support! I agree, nothing works like it used to...

Aunt Jean: Aw, thats sweet about Murphy making snow dogs! Buddy wouldn't even give it a try. He and Molly just don't know what they are missing!

Lin Floyd: It wasn't too cold but the sleet hurt!

Wenn: You will have to come visit!

Cleffairy: Glad you stopped by! I am wishing I was on a tropical beach right now! Maybe you can make a "sand angel" somewhere!

Lucy the Cat: Anything above 10 degrees is fine weather! If its really cold we wrap a scarf around our face and over the nose! Perhaps you could find a place to try out snowshoes, it is so fun and great exercise. I have lived in Maine all my life so I am sorta immune to the cold!

George: I wonder if kids even know how to make a snow angel anymore? I couldn't resist!

Linda Reeder: I was prompted by Kay and her mom to get cracking on much needed cleaning! It just seemed fitting to do it after Christmas and at the start of a new year! I sorta ran out of steam though....

Rose Belle: You too caught the cleaning bug, huh?! It does feel good especially when you give to charity and know that someone will be happy with your cast-offs.

Betsy: You and George will have to make snow angels if you get anymore snow to celebrate it! Brrr...10 degrees is cold. Hope you are nice and warm now.

Cathy: Welcome and glad you stopped by. Glad you enjoyed my snow angel-I had so much fun doing it!

Bernie: Thats the spirit, make a snow angel! Just a simple thing as that made me feel happy! And thats true about life I find, simple things are usually the best!

Kay: Well thanks to your post about the New Year's cleaning I managed to get much needed cleaning done here. It seems to have worn off though....

Abraham Lincoln: So glad to hear you are feeling better! We got enough snow now to make me happy for the rest of the winter! I would guess we got over a foot here, Ashton said they got over three feet where she was this weekend!

Gary's third pottery blog: Yup, the cleaning spree was fun but now not so much...

DUTA: Thanks for the wonderful comment!

Whoopee!!! Winter wonderland at its best! I also tried my hand at decluttering my studio a day before New Year, but halfway through it my eyes would shut on their own that I was unable to complete it until now.

I love you snow angel. I had always want to do the snow angel, but the cold was unbearable to me when we were in Michigan.
Happy New Year to you and to the family. :)

Beautiful pictures! I wish I did the snow angel when I was in Michigan last year, but I was so cold then, being my first time experiencing winter time. :)
We moved down here in Florida. No chance of doing that here, but it is still cold down here. :)
Happy new year to you, friend. :)

Haven't tried making a snow angel, but would really love too, if only our snow would get a bit thicker! Looks as if you guys had fun! Ooh, would love to join you guys in that thick, fluffy snow! :)

Tes: So pleased you came by! If you ever do get enough snow, go out and make a snow angel-so fun! I actually made another one this weekend at the urging of my nieces, will post that soon.

Bull Rhino: I am glad you found me and in turn I was tickled to find your blog. Thanks for your kind words.

Dora: Its fun to be a "kid" again!

nituscorner: Glad you came by! Thanks for the nice comments.

lunardancer: Thanks for coming by and leaving a nice comment. Yes, a winter wonderland that takes one back to childhood!

Pete: Everything is covered with snow now. I think we have had enough! Its pretty but soon gets dirty looking.

Ann: My snowshoes are sort of like a racquet. They are made of plastic and my husband's are canvas. So you enjoy kayaking as well? It is great for the upper body for sure. I usually ache for awhile afterwards! It is a peaceful way to view the coastline.

Brenda Kay Ledford: Thanks for coming by and leaving your nice comment. I wished I could send everyone a snow ball!

TechnoBabe: It IS fun being a kid again! I am slowly learning how to do so. I feel so good afterwards! Of course as long as I don't embarass my kids!

James: I imagine you have enough snow where you are for awhile. Making a snow angel is free and fun! I was very careful (back issues as well as knee issues)but it was fun. Sometimes one needs to throw caution to the wind (but just for a moment)!

Hi I'm Grace: Welcome! I think Michigan must be alot colder than Maine is. I would love to live in Florida myself. It sounds as if you are having cold temps there and danger to the crops. I hope it is warming up fast for you all!
Thanks for the nice comments and a very Happy New Year to you as well!

housewife9988: Hi! I do alot of things that my old bones shouldn't be subjected to but sometimes I just go for it! Like the snow angel, but my husband was there to help me up. I made another snow angel this weekend with my nieces and my husband as well. I think I am back in my second childhood!

Uncle Lee: Thanks for the nice comment. Yes, give a snow angel a try!

tugce: I'm glad you stopped by! Thanks!

SamanthaClarke: Hi, so pleased you came by. I so enjoy your beautiful blog!
