Snowshoeing in the Botanical Gardens

Today was the perfect day to snowshoe through the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. The sky was such a pretty blue and the temperature was in the 30s. A friend and I spent a couple of hours there. The above photo is of the "Great Lawn" at the Visitors Center.
This pinecone is one of my favorite sculptures.

The snow is about two feet deep but other snowshoers had nicely made some paths so the going wasn't too bad. It is great exercise!
I had to include this photo of Ashton with the big orb that is another of my favorites in the garden. This photo is about a year old but I like the comparison of this photo to the next one!

There are many metal sculptures scattered throughout this fantastic garden.

It looks as if you had a perfect day to go snowshoeing. The gardens are beautiful in the snow, but I imagine they are beautiful in any season. I liked the picture of Ashton with the orb that you included.

I think that must have been a nice trip through the snow. I wish we had snow shoes in the Army in northern Japan when I was there in 1953, but we didn't. We wore Mickey Mouse boots.

I like the sculptures in your pictures.

I've never been snowshoeing. I can understand why it would be good exercise though. The pictures are so clear and the botanical gardens look lovely, just a different beauty in the winter time.

At first glance I thought Ashton was so brave to wear so little in the winter...

I enjoyed seeing the Maine Botanical Gardens in winter, Cheryl. Looks like it was a great trek, and I love the contrast photos of the globe in summer and winter.

Hi Cheryl, I love seeing your snow-shoeing experience at the gardens. That has to be very good exercise.

The gardens are beautiful in winter--just like they are during other seasons.

I love seeing the deer sculptures.
Hugs,
Betsy

The blanket of snow looks still fresh for January. When do they begin thawing? 30 degrees sounds preetttyyy cold. The botanical garden must of have really beautiful blooms in the spring. The winter landscape looks majestic.

I almost forgot what snow looks like. We need some around here. It was 63f in Newtown today. The Botanical Gardens looks like a great place to take pictures.
You took some nice shots.

Very nice photos, must have been a wonderful walk through the gardens.

By the way, you need to remove some of the spaces between the end of your post and where it says, comments, I had to scroll down quite a way to find the spot to leave comments. Have a terrific day. It snowed here last evening on top of ice, so this morning taking the granddaughter to scool should be interesting.

Right now, in Australias, we are having a heat wave. I am inviting my bro and family to spend a sking holiday with us in New Zealand.

I have not seen snowshoeing. Is it fun?

It sounds like you guys got all the goodies in your town. We don't have much but the parks and there isn't much in them unless you have kids and love ball games.

Cheryl, the butterflies on my blog are photos from as far back as three years ago. Most were made in 2008. We didn't have many butterflies in 2009. I don't know why but think global warming is changing their habitat too much as it is also changing bird migration. It was 9° here this morning and much too cold for anything as delicate as they are. But I have high hopes of seeing them this next May and June. I even planted to Paw Paw trees for some of the butterflies that depend on them.
