Ever since she could write, Ashton has always loved filling out forms, she always asked if she could fill forms out for me. She has been thrilled with all the forms required for college. Last Friday she had an appointment with an oral surgeon and practically pounced on the clipboard to fill out all the paperwork!
Ashton always loved looking through this magazine whenever she was in a waiting room, so for old times sakes we looked through this one together at the oral surgeon's office while waiting.
By the way, the wisdom teeth are staying put for now, at least until she sees her orthodontist for her yearly check-up. After the appointment we headed home, somehow managing to stop at Target....First we had to stop for a coffee coolatta and Ashton suggested we toast to a fun afternoon. We had a nice day together, lots of talking about serious stuff and the future. Sometimes we have the best talks when we are in the car together!
The girl can shop and shop and shop....The Jeep was packed full with necessary supplies to furnish her dorm room. In shades of pink of course. It was a very bittersweet shopping trip for me, we didn't look at the aisles of pencils, pens, rulers, notebooks, binders that she has always needed for school. No looking at back to school clothes or shoes, but instead storage units for her new home-a college dorm- in about six weeks. Ashton couldn't wait for the back to school supply list to be published in our weekly paper for each grade's needed student supplies. Once it appeared off we would go for a big shopping adventure. Each year she had to have a different theme or Disney character or whatever the craze was at that time. And of course picking out a new LLBean backpack. Now its picking out new sheets and a comforter for her dorm bed, towels and shower totes, reading lamps and clothes hangers. How am I going to survive when she goes off into the big wide world?? I am so happy and proud that she is going to school to become a nurse but the image of my little girl with the big eyes waiting for the school bus on her very first day of school, hanging on to her brother Benjamin's hand when the bus stopped to pick them up, her little face pressed against the window as the bus pulled away. Me walking down the driveway crying.

hang in there, this is what you prepared her for to try her wings. besides with the internet you can communicate lots. I sent my youngest son on a mission for our church several years ago and it was hard to see him leave for japan for two years, but time on his own really improved him lots. Now it's time for you to explore new interests and hobbies. Get a life besides being a mom. lol...sounds like you are having fun shopping for college...
Ashton has such a beautiful life ahead of her. She is such a beautiful girl. I remember how hard it was to send our daughter off to college. It took me a good 4 months before I could get used to it but I did. And now... here she is with a daughter of her own living 5 time zones away. Gracious! You do adjust.
Betcha you had yourself crying as you wrote this post, Cheryl. Huh? I'm right, aren't I? I thought so.
Ashton loves filling out forms, and I HATE filling out forms. I feel a sense of dread every time a new, blank form is handed to me.
I bet Ashton will have the pinkest dorm room on campus.
Ask Aunt Roberta about the day they left Kevin at UMO....
Awww...that last line put me in tears! HUGS!
You had me crying, again! She's got so much going for her, I have confidence she'll be just fine!! However you....I'm not so sure about!! ;)
Aunt Jean, next time you have an app't where new forms will be filled out - give Ashy a call!!!
Thanks to you guys for stopping at Pick a Peck of Pixels, my visitor count soared to 30 so far today. That is great. Who knows, if your friends pop over I might make my goal after all.
And then to shop for things in pink and fill a jeep up must be a lot of fun. I know your photography caught my eye. And if I ever get tired of filling out forms I know who to get in touch with.
Thank you very much for visiting my blog and for the comment you left me there. With your help and visit, we are making some history.

Oh my goodness! What a post!!! Your Ashton sounds just like my Rachel - or I guess Rachel sounds like Ashton. Rachel loves to fill out forms (what a nuisance!!), and she always loves to get new school supplies and clothes! I have three years to go until I am where you are at and I do not look forward to it one bit. I know you are happy for Ashton to start this new phase of her life, but the beauty of that brings such sadness to the end of the current era. Oh Cheryl - I will try to give you whatever encouragement I can, but I do empathize with you.
Thanks everyone for your nice, encouraging comments. It means alot to me!
