A confession....

Yesterday my mom and I met up with my Aunt Jean in Freeport, well known for being the home of LLBean. My Aunt Jean (on the left) and my mom are pictured here waiting for me to get done shopping! We had a nice morning browsing through LLBean and then checking out its outlet store. Afterwards we had lunch in a small cafe. It was nice to browse around in LL Bean's and look over all the wonderful items. And I mentally made myself a long Christmas wish list!
Okay, I know I posted a few days ago about Christmas lights being lit already, before Thanksgiving even but I have to admit to wrapping the gifts I have already purchased! I try to buy presents a few at a time so as not to overwhelm the budget as well as take advantage of sales. So last night I wrapped up the gifts I have already purchased. I still have alot more shopping to do but its nice to know that I won't be up half the night on Christmas Eve wrapping presents as I have done many times over the years!

Looks as though you had a great time Christmas shopping. Your mom and aunt looks as though they are having a good time talking. You are so fortunte to begin Christmas shopping. I've not even begun yet. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.

What a fun shopping trip - being with your mom and aunt!
I've started x-mas shopping too! Like you, it was pretty much a ritual to wrap the presents the night before. But, this year, I'm doing just the same thing as you! Today, I'm going to wrap the ones I already have!
Smart ppl think alike, huh? :)

Well, my, aren't you sneaky? I didn't realize you took this picture of us at the LL Bean Outlet.

Great day yesterday, wasn't it? I wish I could say I ended the day also wrapping Christmas gifts, but alas.... Maybe I'll get to it soon. You're wise to "wrap as you go," Cheryl.

Nice wrapping, and good thinking not to leave things at the last moment.

Looks like you're keeping on top of things.

Sweet picture of two sisters together.

James and I just went to the LL Bean store in NJ a few weeks ago. I had never been to one of their stores before, just always browsed their catalogs. Anyway, we were there for practical reasons: a coat for James and a long underwear shirt for me. I ended up wanting so many things though! I love their tops. Everything is so cute. I still can't believe I didn't buy anything else.

You are so organized with your shopping and wrapping!

well you are getting a head start on the holidays. we went to the LL Bean store when we were in Maine and it was fun to look around. We do little shopping but give our families money to buy what they want. Easier that way...

Hi Cheryl, Looks like the three of you enjoyed your visit and I'm sure you enjoyed your shopping..

I hate to think about Christmas before Thanksgiving but I have to. We make a Christmas CD for our family and friends ---so I work on that Christmas music for months before Christmas. This will be our 5th CD... (We have a HUGE collection of Christmas music!!! ha)

AND--we write Christmas letters each year ---and I try to get them in the mail by the first of December. SO---I 'have' to think Christmas a little early. However, I do not shop much nor decorate until after Thanksgiving.

Hugs,
Betsy

Brenda Kay Ledford: I had a great day with my mom and my aunt. The stores were not crowded at all so that made it even nicer! I hope you too have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Dez: Yup, smart people do think alike :)

Jean: I couldn't resist snapping the photo. Of course I didn't dare ask either of you how long you had been waiting for me!

DUTA: After three children and wrapping gifts in a panic on Christmas Eve, I have finally learned to do the wrapping earlier and as I purchase the gifts!

Patty: I don't usually keep on top of things but I am slowly learning how!

Lucy the Cat: I usually stay away from LLBean's store and shop on-line. But it was nice to actually see alot of items I had been thinking about "in person".

Lin Floyd: I am to the point that gift cards are best to give to the teenagers in the family, they always can use them unlike something I might pick out for them!

Ashton: FYI, two are for you and thats all!

reanaclaire: I don't mind the shopping but I don't like the wrapping part, when Ashton was younger she loved to wrap gifts for me.

Betsy from Tennessee: I never used to think of anything Christmas until the first of December either. But with one income now I find I must purchase gifts a little at a time. I refuse to decorate until at least the first week of December. And how wonderful you make such a wonderful gift for your family, one to be treasured for sure.

nituscorner: Thanks for stopping by. I know, the end of the year is rapidly coming. Doesn't seem possible that another year has come and gone! It seems just like yesterday that we were enjoying the Fourth of July and now we are getting ready for Thanksgiving and then Christmas.

It sounds to me as if you are very well organized. I've gotten a few presents but haven't even thought about wrapping them. I could probably come up with quite a wish list at LL Bean as well.

I've done a little shopping, but mostly we're just at the stage of beginning to make wish lists. Wrapping is a long way off.

Good for you! Sigh... I haven't started at all. I've been working on my holiday newsletters but that's about it. I'll be sorry in a little while. Your gifts look so pretty.

Many stores in San Francisco have already put up their Christmas decorations and I have seen a lot of people doing their holiday shoppings like Christmas wrapping papers and decorations. It's great that you gave yourself a headstart on the shopping and gift wrapping. As much as I hate it and even though I shop early every year, I always ended up wrapping gifts the night before Christmas. Hope this year will be different!

Hi Cheryl, we get LL Bean book brochure very often, once every few months, and I love going thru, my wife too their beautiful stuff on sale.

Aha, you the early bird, avoid the X'mas rush. Good for you.
I sometimes wonder why lots of people wait till the last few days do their X'mas shopping, then grumble about the traffic. mall crowded parking.
Nice pics of your relatives.
By the way, your 'Freeport'....I remember seeing cigarettes with that name?

Have fun Cheryl and don't forget the Mistle toe. Lee.

Why is it that most all gifts are wrapped by women? I have never figured it out. I can wrap stuff nice but I think my wife can make the wrapping itself look nicer.

George: I don't like fighting the crowds in the stores during the Christmas rush so order on-line. A little at a time doesn't hurt the wallet as badly!

Linda Reeder: I have been trying to get wish lists for one son and Ashton without much luck, sure hope they don't wait until just before Christmas!

Kay: Holiday letters sound very interesting. Do you do one for family and one for friends?

Rose Belle: The stores here have been decorated with Christmas decorations since before Halloween here! I don't like that at all. However I will shop for Christmas early!

Uncle Lee: The LLBean flagship store is amazing in person. So much to look at and hopefully purchase! Its only about 40 minutes from where I live. I stay away from it close to Christmas as it is always packed! But where else can one shop for last minute items but LLBean-open 24 hours a day 7 days a week! Thanks for reminding me to get some mistletoe!

Abraham Lincoln: Interesting thought about women doing most of the wrapping. My middle son wraps gifts very nicely, maybe I should enlist his help!

I can't tell you how many times I have been up on Christmas Eve wrapping gifts till all hours of the morning!!! I do not want to do that ANYMORE and I love how you are doing things. I shall try to do the same.

Sounds like you had such a lovely time!!

wenn said...

yeah..wise buy that way..

Cheryl said...

Margaret: Remember, we don't do presents for each other! Not!

Joyce's Journey: Ah, you stay up late like I do wrapping presents! No more. I am not really in the holiday spirit when I wrap gifts in November but at least I can get to bed at a decent hour on Christmas Eve!

Wenn: Now I find that a lot of stores are having big sales leading up to Christmas so some gifts I will wait to buy once they are a good bargain!

Don't forget the Mistletoe, egg nog....and a bottle of Southern Comfort for the coming Winter cold nights, *wink*. Lee.

Uncle Lee: Thanks for the reminder! I must be sure to add all three items to my grocery list! It could be a long, snowy winter you know :)
