'Tis the season

Ashton has taken up a family tradition...knitting. She has tried knitting before but quickly became frustrated. She recently purchased knitting needles and some pretty yarn to make an afghan. I think its a big step for the first project! But with her determination I'm willing to bet she'll accomplish it. She and I have decided we'd like to find a pattern similar to the hat she is wearing. It looks to be a simple knit and purl pattern but I have never attempted a hat before. We can learn together.
I mentioned in a previous blog that we have always purchased a new book each year for Christmas. Ashton (as well as I) loved the Berenstain Bears books so this is 2008 choice. I store the books with the Christmas decorations each year so its always exciting to see the big collection of Christmas books when we get out the decorations.

Another tradition that I have mentioned in a previous blog is the annual Christmas ornament for each child, usually pertaining to a special event that occurred in their life. This year the family ornament is a photo taken at Benjamin's college graduation. Ashton chose her ornament this year, a Princess one! No surprise...

This is such a fun tradition you've done. I wish I had done the same with my children. Good luck with the knitting.

Knitting will keep her busy those long nights of nursing!! Great project for the 2 of you to accomplish the hat!

Great-Grammy Dunphy would be proud to see Ashton conquering the needles.
