Going, Going, GONE!

(Ashton) Hello all! Long time, no post... huh? I've been busy, busy, busy working, achieving straight A's (YAY!), and filling out the dreaded college applications. A few months ago, I went from my deadset career goal (Elementary Education teacher), to a new goal and passion (Nursing!). My hope is that I can one day be a Registered Nurse (RN) in a Labor & Delivery ward. I think it would be such an amazing feeling getting the baby all cleaned up and warm and then handing him to new Mommy or Daddy. I've never, EVER been one for hospitals up until taking the CNA class last spring. Since then, I've braved some tough situations, dealt with death, and other experiences. In October, I retook the SAT's and did worse than I did last May. Oops! I have been busy filling out applications to the University of Southern Maine, University of Maine at Augusta, and Southern Maine Community College. I would much rather be accepted to a University where I can achieve my Bachelor's but, with the waiting lists and high demand for Nursing, a community college is my backup plan. By now, I can recite my school's CollegeBoard code, my social securuity number, and many other facts that is demanded on applications. Last Monday, the Guidance office had my transcript ready to go and I sat with the secretary and sent it all away! It was a great relief to finish all that crap! I'm so impatient now I just want to know if and where I got into. I rank 14 out of 68 in my graduating class (SO close to Top 10 GRRRR) and my straight A's will look great, so I don't believe I have much to worry about. In my Senior English class, we had to write college app. essays as a homework assignment and, when the teacher gave mine back, she told me it was GREAT! and didn't need any editing whatsoever. I was the only one in my class that didn't have to spend nearly two months preparing an essay. So, it's great to have that weight off my shoulders! I will post a copy of my application essay soon, which brought tears to several's eyes (ahem, AUNTIE!), so stay tuned!

But, ahem, I'll take the blood and guts any day over the "crap" that you have to deal with!! Keep up the good work, the world is going to get one heck of an RN!! Love ya bunches!

AWWWWW I love you too Auntie! Robyn and I were reminiscing today about our Friday "sleepovers" when you would order pizza from the East Boothbay General Store and pick ALL the mushrooms off just for your favorite niece!
