Gifts around us....

We put three bluebird boxes up over a year ago in the hopes of attracting a bluebird family, after I spotted a bluebird pair in January of 2009. There had been no occupants until I noticed a blue "flash" this past weekend. Lo and behold, all three boxes are occupied! I have so enjoyed watching the activity in our back yard the past couple of days.
Nature has given us a beautiful gift in the bluebirds.
Pink and purple lupines are a splash of color against the new green grass.
Nature left a heart to bring a smile to one's face.
There is something beautiful about the simple daisy....it bravely holds its head high.
These lupines were a deep, cobalt blue color. A stunning splash of color amongst a field of lobster traps.

In the stillness and shadows of a Preserve a merry group of trilliums turn their faces towards the light.
A splash of color in my garden, how can one not smile at its simple beauty?
The lovely butterfly enjoyed the rhododendron bushes....please come back again!

There is just something special about Bluebirds, they truly are birds of happiness, I guess! The babies fledged here, about a week ago! They will have another nesting though.

The Lupines and rhododendron are beautiful, Cheryl and of course I share your love of finding hearts!

Is there a particular type of bird house that is for blue birds? We are new to the bird viewing community and we are enjoying the birds here in the mid west. We are mesmerized much of the time as we watch all the antics of the various birds.

How sweet - those bluebirds occupying your boxes! The are indeed a gift.
I'm a fan of cobalt blue colour like that of the lovely lupins and I'm always delighted by the smiling shape of the daisies.

I love the lupines. So my friend is not the only person to grow lupines. When she grew them, her neighbour asked her why she was growing a wild plant.

Hi Cheryl, your beautiful, creative pictures always brings sunshine to us....There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.

You have a pleasant weekend and keep a song in your heart, Lee.

Hi Cheryl,
I too am from Maine. Oxford County area. Lovely photos you've taken, very talented I'd say.
Hope your fibromyalgia is under control. I have arthritis from Lyme disease I got in the late 80's (I was this MD's first case). I've found that Tai Chi really helps keep me loose, and in less pain. Hope you'll stop by my blog and say hello.

Wow. What a beautiful post!
I think your trilliums might actually be Canadian Dogwood, a very special plant indeed. And, oh, to have bluebirds nesting in your boxes. How special is that!

Awesome set of photos. So pretty. We finally have a nesting pair of bluebirds, for the first time ever, but I have yet to be able to get photos as good as yours.
