Finding the perfect lamps for the living room (if you only knew....)
The calendar made me for Christmas 1999 by Ashton when she was 8 years old....it still hangs in the kitchen even if the months are from 10 years ago...I still change it monthly.
Looking at the photos every time I'm in the kitchen of all of my loved ones....as well as the cookie jar on top of the refrigerator. Its one of my husband's cherished possessions of his mom's...she passed away when he was 17.
This book!
I have a "stash" of these delights....
Green Mountain coffee....all the seasonal flavors...and my Keurig coffee maker!
A family photo taken last June 5 when Miss Ashton graduated from high school. From left to right: my oldest son Courtney, the graduate, me and Mark and my middle child, Benjamin.Precious memories.
Collecting stone (and even brick) hearts....a hobby Benjamin, Ashton and I started during a time of "change" in our lives....
My laptop which keeps me connected to all of my dear blogger friends! I have met some of the most wonderful, unique and fascinating people through blogging. Oh, and even a monkey named Georges.
My rocking chair...it was purchased before my firstborn arrived, 31 years ago and has rocked three babies over the years....and the beautiful hand-crocheted afghan hanging on it that Mark's Nana May made.
My Christmas cactus which bloomed beautifully at Christmas but seems to have become confused over the seasons....today it was in the 80s! The cactus next to it has a single red blossom appearing as well....
My fledgling collection of pitchers and trays....
Oh and this beauty is also brightening my life....something is going on in that corner!
My kitchen sink window that looks out on a beautiful lawn, birdfeeders and a brook....and another fledgling collection of small creamers.....the red one in the middle is my most cherished one....my mom gave it to me recently and its marked "Burtt's Corner N.B." where her parents were from.

I have a peek into your life, and discover that your keep crystal just like we Chinese do from the second picture.
(Georges the monkey saw that and he says "SMOOCH MON AMI!")
The Budster, yeah!
This was such a touching post because it gives so much insight into you and the things that make up your life and make you happy. I absolutely loved it.
I loved seeing all your favorite things. I was born and brought up in Moncton, NB not very far from Burt's corner.....how did you end up so far away from NB, well Maine isn't really that far away is it. I plan on moving back home in two years as my brothers and sister live in NB....:-)Hugs
We did indeed learn about you from seeing your favorite things.
I, too, like to surround myself with things that make me happy.
Great post Cheryl. It's the simple things in life that you cherish the most and make you happy. I, too, appreciate the wonderful things I have right before me.
Yes, I enjoyed this a lot. It was fun to read and see the things you love. What a great idea to look around at what makes us the happiest.
Lindt chocolate is so good. I've heard people rave about Keurig coffee makers. Goodness knows, coffee in the morning makes me very happy. It's so nice to have pictures of family around. I love all your blooming plants and your collection of creamers, pitchers and trays. You have a lot of nice things, Cheryl! Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without BuddytheElf. :)
lovely tour of your home and your treasures...
Nice stuff and surroundings! Love to see those beautiful things that you treasure. I would love to have them too for myself around here. I wish I could also have that view from your kitchen sink. So cool! Cos you see, I only have my neighbor's roof as the single view from my kitchen window here. sigh! I love each and every pic you posted especially the rose bush in the attractive ice bucket.
Btw, I'm feelin' quite fine today. Thanks for the concern Cheryl! Have a great day and see you again soon!
Cheryl...I really enjoyed your tour...it showed me how much you love your family...and what a nice home you have...love seeing Benjamin...he is a cutie pie...he would have a great time with my guys....
My Christmas cactus just bloomed again, too! I wonder if they know something we don't?
Wow, everywhere you look you have precious mementos. Your house and photos are full of love.
Oh wow! All those things make me smile too! especilly the hearts! You know, that's something I never thought of doing. Ever. I think I might have to steal your idea and start doing that with my kids the minute they know what a heart shape is. Wonderful idea!
I LOVED this post, Cheryl. I always enjoy your posts and your amazing photography, but this one is now at the top of my list. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Your rocking chair reminded me that I bought Patty one after our first baby was born and she used it to rock four more in and then the grandchildren. And it is hard rock maple but the finish is gone now. It doesn't look like it did when we first got it and not as nice and shiny like yours but it sill works.
Your dog is crazy cool! I have a toy fox terrier(smaller Jack Russel) and used to have a min pin. They were buddies, but I never thought what a dog would look like if I merged the two.
Cheryl, I so loved this post, we have similar keepsakes and favorites. I have a planter full of heart shapes, love my Keurig, just gave my rocker to my daughter which I used with all my kids and grandkids, I have my mother-in-law's cookie jar on my fridge and I have baskets and bowls of special rocks and shells! Peas in a pod...with our heart shape hunting in nature!!!

I’ve enjoyed looking over your blog. I came across it through another blog I follow, and I’m glad I did. I am now a follower of yours as well. Feel free to look over my blog and perhaps become one as well.
That was spectacular! And I have read the book about the reunion of all the girlfriends! Quite a story!
Wonderful to see and read about what makes you happy! BTW, I love Lindt chocolates too :)
That rocking chair must be a very good quality one. I had a cane rocking chair, the canes started to have holes, and my husband refused to get it fixed. i gave it to a friend who was happy to spend some money to fix it.
I have to tell you that your blog makes me smile with joy. Just looking over all of the heartfelt pictures you have posted. Sometimes we just have to set down and count all of the blessings that God has given us.
I have really enjoyed reading the posts on your blog. I invite you to visit my blog. God bless, Lloyd
loved this post of yours cheryl.
I think it's wonderful that simple things give you so much pleasure. You are so much richer with this attitude. Thanks for sharing your 'pep talk' with us.
Cheryl,
This is a great post. It gives me an insight into the things that you like. I love the rocking chair, the plants, the photos, and everything. These things make me happy to see them on your blog.
Cherty I enjoyed your collection of special objects.I had some once too but a fire changed that. I've started a new one. Yesterday on my walk around the pond with Buddy I saw my first heart shaped rock thanks to you. You gave me the idea to seek it out. Thanks for you inspiration.
Hi Cheryl, I really enjoyed looking at all your very creative photos here.
As mentioned before, you have a good eye for things other people might miss and thru your camera turn your pics into art. Outstanding!
Have fun and keep a song in your heart, Lee.
Cheryl,
Just stopping by to hope you're having a great week. I really like your posting of what makes you smile. This is a lovely collection of photos. Have a great first day of June!
