Nice weekend!

The weekend was packed full of adventures. Friday night we went to the Portland Sea Dogs baseball game. The day had been warm and it was a great night for a ballgame.
Saturday morning we headed to Southport Island where we hiked for the first time Hendrick's Head Trail. It was another gorgeous day with plenty of sun!

Of course I found a heart on the trail!
Later in the afternoon we took a picnic lunch to Ocean Point. We were intrigued by the lobster boat towing several docks, one with a small skiff on it. It was so peaceful sitting on the rocks with an occasional seagull cry.
I found a big heart on the shore...
Sunday was Mark's first day of vacation so off we headed to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. This was our first trip of the season, the last time I was there I was snowshoeing with a friend. Doesn't seem that long ago actually. The temperature was close to 70 and the gardens were coming to bloom throughout. The tulips were so pretty and the varieties were amazing. I had never seen most of these tulips before. We wandered the entire garden and hiked along a shorefront trail, a climb up and up near a small waterfall and back through the forest.
These are simply stunning.
Who cannot help but smile with such beauty in front of them? I now wished I had written down the names of the different tulips.

We will have to go back for another visit when more blooms appear later this spring.

Neat pictures. I really don't like tulips in my garden but I sure liked them in your photograph.

Maine must be a beautiful state. Today it is 50 degrees where I live with a lot of wind so it's hard to imagine Portland, Maine warmer than Portland, Oregon.

Looking at all the pictures, I am sure you must have a fantastic weekend.

I love the flowers, of course, but that second photo of the lighthouse and the rocky Maine coast makes me long to return. We visited Maine once, too long ago.

Beautiful shoreline photos, Cheryl. At first I thought that blush pink tulip was a peony.
Loved the hearts!

It was fun to go along with you for your weekend. I have a Portland Sea Dogs baseball cap that I like to wear. I bought it when I attended a game there several years ago. Since I live in Utah, nobody knows about the Sea Dogs so I always challenge people to guess the team that the hat represents and I bet them a coke or something that they can't. I haven't lost one yet, but one day somebody came walking up and said "Hey where did you get the Portland Sea Dogs hat?" If they had kept their mouth shut they could have won a free coke from me LOL!!! Someday I'm going to take my wife to Portland and eat lobster by the water. I love that little downtown area by the ports.

It certainly looks as if you had a wonderful weekend. Your first picture from Southport Island is beautiful, and the tulips are absolutely gorgeous. When I loved in South Carolina I went to several minor league baseball games and thoroughly enjoyed them.

Don't you wish that tulips remain in their buds forever? I gave my daughter some tulips. In a week, they have fully opened.
