I did it!

Tuesday night I finished the scarf I was knitting for http://orphan.org/

I spent approximately 15 hours or so working on it, many of them unraveling and re-doing the scarf! However, I persisted with my project and finally completed it. It measures around 5 1/2 feet which falls in the guidelines that the website calls for. Ashton graciously modeled the scarf for me. I am now about 8 inches into the next scarf and so far, so good. I have really enjoyed knitting the scarf and feel very strongly about the project and hope to make more scarves for next year. It feels good to think that a college student will have a warm scarf to wrap around themselves and know that someone who cares made it for them.

That's a beautiful scarf (and daughter), Cheryl. What a pretty pattern. Unraveling is part and parcel of everyone's knitting, so don't think you're "special"! I know how frustrating it is to have to back-track, though.

You know, its amazing but as I get "more mature" the simple things mean so much more. Like making a simple scarf but knowing it will be a "hug" for a college student somewhere. I think I have gotten so much more out of this project than I thought possible...

Ashton is a gorgeous girl and the scarf highlights her natural beauty. Since I don't knit, I find your making that scarf nothing short of miraculous.
