Ahem, this little guy is certainly cheeky :) He has hung around the bird feeders all summer which in turn drives the dog nuts :) Poor Buddy runs from window to window, trying hard to drive the interloper out of the yard. But the chipmunk is not afraid of a little barking and continues to steal seed from the feeders.
Some time ago I posted about all the special cups Ashton has collected over the years. Yes, in two weeks she will be 18 but I couldn't resist picking up a cup for her the other day. She can use it in her dorm room.
Queen Anne's Lace is everywhere now. I love it.
I came upon several clusters of this flower the other day while walking on the Preserve next door. Does anyone have a name for it? Its very pretty and dainty.
BuddyTheElf and I managed to sneak in a walk on the Preserve this afternoon in between torrential downpours. We stepped off the trail to check out this little pond. Its pretty and so quiet.
Saturday we took a walk on the Porter Preserve. It was somewhat foggy on the shoreline. We sat on the rocks for awhile and just enjoyed the day. The seagulls all lined up on the railing of the run and float caught my eye. They obviously knew that Hurricane Bill was on its way so sought shelter.
This sign has made me laugh each time I pass it. Duh?
I liked the white water flower but was more intrigued by the way the water "puddled" around the plant stems.
And what the heck is this?? I spotted this "thing" on the flower and was amazed how well it coordinated with the flower! If I hadn't been trying to take photos I would never have known the "thingy" was there. It certainly was doing a great job of hiding.
This little guy was near the pond that I took the white flower shots at. I am sure he must have laughed to himself when I slid down the very steep embankment to snap thephoto. I ended up standing in the warm pond. I am sure he laughed too as I struggled back up the bank to firmer ground. The dog just stood and watched the whole performace. Big help he is....
A glorious end to the day.

Wow. So many great pictures. You’re right. That chipmunk is cheeky. James over at Something Sighted had a picture of Queen Anne’s Lace too today, but he didn’t know that’s what it’s called. Your pictures of the water are beautiful. I also love the sunset and ship coming out of the fog. Very entertaining post. Thank you.
Cute post, Cheryl... That squirrel in the first picture was storing up food for the winter I think... ha ha...
BuddytheElf really needed that big stick didn't he???? Did you let him take in in the house????? ha ha
Your area is so pretty---even when it rains and is foggy. Gorgeous!!!!
Love the new little glass... Glad it has PINK in it...
Hugs,
Betsy
Love the "No signs allowed" sign. I can see why the chipmunk had to stop and rest on the tree stump. He's carrying a lazy chipper's load. I wouldn't have noticed the yellow spider on the flower if you hadn't pointed it out. We've got lots of Queen Anne's lace in bloom, too, and also goldenrod, sure signs that summer is on its way out. Buddy is trotting mighty proudly with that long stick in his mouth. I once watched a bird trying to get a long stick into her birdhouse, to no avail.
You certainly captured a wide variety of sights for this post. I really like the two pictures of the sailboat in the fog, but I think they are all great. We'd be glad to send you some more chipmunks if you would like to have them.
Lucy: So pleased that you enjoyed the photos. Thanks for the nice comment. Visit again!
Betsy: The chipmunk has an accomplice we've discovered as well as a big, fat squirrel. In less than a day they have cleaned out the feeders AGAIN! Never had problems in many years but this summer is different. Buddy left the stick on the trail, he knew better than to try to bring it into his "parents" house! I see you picked up on the pink in the cup!
Aunt Jean: Buddy decided to leave the stick on the trail so another dog could have a turn lugging it. He was so darn proud of himself, he couldn't figure out how to lift his leg and balance himself with that stick in his mouth!!
George: Glad you stopped by and NO THANKS on sending extra chipmunks! We have plenty, thank you!
What beautiful pictures! I've never seen a chipmunk in person they are really cute. :-)
Absolutely gorgeous photos, Cheryl. I love all those wonderful flowers and that cute chipmunk.
Very nice series of photos. I especially love the chipmunk! They are so much fun to watch.
