My calendar gal

Here is a priceless work of art...
When Ashton was a mere child of 8, her class made calendars for a Christmas present for their parents. Her teacher did the months and days and the students designed their own calendar photos. Even though the calendar is going into its tenth year, it still hangs in a place of honor in our kitchen. Never mind the dates don't match up with the current year's. Each month's picture was carefully thought of, drawn by and colored by Ashton. Important dates such as her brothers Courtney and Benjamin's birthdays were marked as well as mine and of course hers! I love the leprachaun theme in March. Here she noted Court's birthday! The green shamrocks add to its theme as well. And here is April with an Easter bunny and a Happy Birthday to her brother Ben. Note the eggs scattered about, waiting to be found! And May showed her patriotism, an American flag for Memorial Day. And the bright blue ocean and a very colorful lighthouse were June's theme. I love the shells, starfish and crab on the bottom!
The Fourth of July would not be complete without fireworks! Here on the coast many people go out in their boats to watch the fireworks that are fired off from the inner harbor. Ashton has had such an opportunity to do so. August sports a pretty butterfly and bright sun. And the month of September? Well, its Ashton's birthday month! She must mention her birthday as well! A very observant girl, Ashton drew a tree minus its leaves. There is the standard witch of course and a pumpkin, too. I love the Happy Birthday note for "Mommy". November features a big, fat turkey.
And finishing up the year December of course. She covered pretty much everything for the month- an igloo, snow falling, a cheerful snowman and of course Christmas gifts.

Oh my! You've brought back memories. I did the same thing with my class. Let me tell you that was a lot of work for the teacher, too. Ashton is a fabulous artist. I'd put that up forever in my kitchen also.

LOVE this calendar, Cheryl. What creative drawings. The crab and the butterfly are two of my favorites in Ashton's "series." This is definitely something to keep forever. It would be fun to give a copy of it to Ashton's own child some day.

Hi Cheryl, thanks for checking out my blog! Secret Pal is a great program, I am so glad that I joined it. I brought my hat on Tuesday for St. Patricks Day but I didn't wear it all day. It was a little too much for me.. I am sure that I will be talking to you soon!
