On Saturday Mark , Robyn and I headed to the Maine Mall where we were to meet up with Robyn's sister Elizabeth (
affectionately known as
Tiz by a VERY select few) (and as you may know, these two are the "rent-a-kids" that Auntie and Uncle Mark borrow when Ashton isn't around) and their dad, Robbie. Elizabeth and Robbie had gone to Portland earlier in the day to a boat show. We met up and had a nice lunch at Bug-A-Boo Creek and then headed to the Maine Mall where a big event was about to take place!
Tiz was ready to get her ears pierced! Now this event has been anxiously awaited by Auntie for several years. Auntie was the only one would could take
Tiz to get her ears pierced, per
Tiz! There are certain things that only "Auntie" can do. I had taken Robyn when she was around 6 to have her ears done so it was a given that Auntie would do the same for
Tiz when the time was right. My kids are the same way with their "Auntie", Robyn and Elizabeth's mom.

Tiz told me earlier that she was going to have "diamonds" for her first pair of earrings. However the lady who was to do the ear piercing didn't have "diamonds" and
Tiz settled on her birth stone color (June)which was a very pretty selection.

Elizabeth sat very still while her ears were prepped for the big event. Her expression never changed the whole time-I don't know if it was anticipation or just plain terror! We had told her ahead of time that she would feel a "pinch" but it would be quick and she would soon be even more
glamorous!

I love this shot of
Tiz holding her dad's hand (for dear life), she was glad to have her dad with her for support for this big event. Robyn videoed the event for their Mom, as she was working. I as usual, was the official photographer.

She was a trooper through the whole process. She is even cuter with her new earrings I must say. After, Robyn and I browsed through Macy's while the men and
Tiz went to relax (and recover). When we came from the store
Tiz ran up to me and excitedly told me that she saw Allison and that Allison liked her new earrings. That meant so much to
Tiz!

We all went to the Civic Center to watch a Portland Pirates hockey game. This was the girls first time at a hockey game.
Tiz recovered nicely from the earlier events of the day and was very engrossed in the game. She was very impressed by the several on-ice scuffles of the hockey players! It was "Toss a Bear on the Ice Night" at the game and when the Pirates scored their first goal participants who had brought a teddy bear (for charity )could toss them out onto the ice. It was fun to see all the volunteers scrambling around to gather up hundreds of teddy bears. Some resorted to rounding up bears using hockey sticks. It was a great idea and especially so that it benefited a charity.

Thanks Elizabeth for sharing your big day with me and Uncle Mark. It means so much to both of us. And Robyn, you are a hoot!

This is so very special. I remember going with my daughter to get her ears pierced. She was so determined. She was a bit older than Tiz though. Tiz looks adorable with her new earrings. You are a wonderful auntie.
Kay...she's a FABULOUS Auntie!! Thanks for taking her, I probably would of passed out beside her when she did!!! LOL
I love the new earrings! Now Tiz can be fully accessorized. :)
Everyone: Tiz stepped right up to the chair and never once acted nervous. You would think we were filming a movie with the cameras and our entourage around her :) Auntie couldn't take her to have them done any sooner as Tiz wasn't ready at the ages Robyn (6) and Ashton (4)were. I couldn't force a child to have it done for sure! And yes, Margaret you might very well have keeled over beside Tiz! It scared me for sure.
It's so special, Cheryl, that YOU got to be the one to take Elizabeth for her ear piercing. Every girl remembers when/where she got her ears pierced, and Elizabeth will always remember she was with you. It was generous of Margaret to agree to let you be the one at the historic event. Not all mothers would have let someone else be there, I'm sure.
The pictures are so cute, she was so brave!
Thank you for the comment on my blog, it was very relieving to write it all out. :)
