I have been busy the past few days doing alot of nothing....we have had several days of high temperatures and humidity. I love summer but do not care for the humidity that seems to have settled over us here in New England. I did delight in finally seeing a deer in the backyard...we had two deer visit off and on last summer but until just a few days ago we hadn't seen one.
BuddyTheElf had an action packed night recently. A chipmunk who seems to delight in tantalizing the poor dog got Bud on the go between front windows and back windows!
Mark had the Fourth of July off so we decided to kayak, first trip of the year. We put in near Boothbay Harbor and had a great paddle into the main harbor and around the inner harbor. I will post more about the trip later. It was a beautiful day from start to finish. We had a family gathering at my sister's home to round out the day. It was fun to watch my niece Elizabeth enjoying sparklers but she couldn't wait til dark and had most of them "sparkled" well before then!

A deer in your backyard? Shaking my head and re-reading that sentence again. I forget you have this openness, this beautiful big - huge backyard. Gosh, that is just so cool!
It's cold in San Francisco. Just fog and cold wind. I wish we have nice summer weather here but unfortunately, it's not the case. :(
It is beautiful here as well Cheryl, it is not as humid on the West coast though. We have sunny days and rainy nights.. perfect!
So glad you had a great 4th of July with family. I do hope you are feeling well.....enjoy your weekend sweetie......:-) Hugs
I hate the humidity too. But, in India, we love our sunshine and warm, tropical climate. The pics of the squirrel are amazing, and you are so lucky to have deer come into your backyard. We have to go wildlife parks for that. Have a great weekend.
such cute squirrel!
Everywhere, Heat and Humidity are hard to fight and the days end up with us doing nothing.
I'm glad you had such a wonderful fourth of july. The picture of Buddy and those of the squirrel are awsome!
I hate repeating myself, repeating myself, repeating myself, but the photos are great. The buoys in the water are so colorful. Your kayaking trip on the 4th must've been so much fun and even a bit cooling in the harbor.
Great images. Little critters tantalizing the doggie inside the window happens here, too. We have cats, chipmunks, possum, raccoons, all keeping the dogs exercised here. ;)
Cheryl...I bet Buddy was having a high old time...I can't keep my windows clean with Nolan and Jake watching...and looking for something to bark at....love the last photo...
fun summer photos
We have been having so much fun watching the squirrels and rabbits in our back yard too. No deer in this neighborhood but on the back way to the library there are deed and turkeys and pheasants and all sorts of critters. Lovely. I so like your pictures here of the squirrel working to get in the feeder. Great pictures. I want to see your pictures of you two kayaking.
Hi Cheryl, I can't wait to hear more about your July 4th Kayaking trip... That has to be SO much fun. I watch people do it at the rivers and lakes around here. I'll post a Kayak experience we saw recently --sometime next week.
Our heat finally 'broke' yesterday and we finally had 1/2 inch of rain... Yeah--we really needed it. Hope the head and humidity stay away for awhile now.
Squirrels are so agile. They can do most anything.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
Now I know you have done so much of nothing, and all these are interesting.
The squirrel looked like he stopped to say a little prayer. They entertain us here too, Cheryl!
The color of your vase really compliments the Lily and Black-eyed Susans.
I enjoyed your 'Grateful' post too...your feet looked very comfy on the railing...I can just imagine the view you were enjoying!
♥...Wanda
I agree with Wanda...that was my first thought when I saw the squirrel...saying a little prayer..show me how to outwit this feeder..Amen!!
It sure has been humid and I hate it too.. I don't care the temp. just no hummidity!!!
I like your flower arrangement...nice colors...happy looking..: } Have a good weekend!!
I love all your wildlife and all the adventure you get into with your husband.
Love this post.No deer here but our other place had them.
Wonderful photos, Cheryl!
Love the photo of Buddy! He looks like a bear cub standing like that :) I actually thought it was a bear statue at first.
I wish we had red squirrels here. They have them in Benezette and they're so much fun to watch. We feed them piles of sunflower seeds. I hate to leave them!
Beautiful flowers!
It's a toss-up between the squirrel photos and that gorgeous last flower shot. Wonderful photos, Cheryl.
Loved the photo of Buddy the Elf staring at the chipmunk, the deer, the squirrel was so darned cute , and your flowers were lovely. All your photos are great and a real treat.
Thanks also for stopping by and wishing me a happy birthday the other day Cheryl. I appreciated it very much.
An English Girl Rambles
Love the pictures of the squirrel, Cheryl!
Hi Cheryl, great shots, as usual. Love that last pic of the squirrel....
I guess you're just like the cowboys of old....never leaving home without their guns, you your trusty camera.
I don't own a digital camera .....yet. Still having my 14 year old Nikon SLR film F-601 and a Yashica Electro 35....30 years old, ha ha....
You have fun and stay easy, Lee.
Kayaking must mean you're feeling better, Cheryl. Buddy looks like a keen chipmunk watch dog! Love that last colorful bouquet.
We always get nervous when the deer get too close to our house -- they love to munch on roses! BuddyThe Elf would be run ragged with all the chipmunks we have around here. Cute pictures of the squirrel in action.
Nice animal pictures. For a split second I thought BuddyTheElf was a bear. lol It's been hot and humid in Newtown too. Last week was over a 100f a few times.
Poor dog, I sometimes think the little outside animals know they can pester the ones in the house. We had a feeder like that, and somehow the squirrel could make the spring come unhooked and then he was able to get some seeds out. We finally got rid of it. Thank goodness our humidity wasn't so bad today. I can't stand high humidity.
BuddytheElf seems to be yearning to go out to catch a chipmunk.. lol..
you are really clever in capturing the shots of that chipmunk.. maybe it is rehearsing .. :p
Love the photos of squirrel so cute! The kayak trip sounds interesting & I'm waiting for your write-up about this :-)
Dora
Those squirrles are so funny!! Great pictures!
Hello Cheryl! Your acrobatic squirrel made my day! Nice capture. He's such a cutie. And the deer visit is such a delight. What a lovely guest. :)
That's a very nice picture of the deer. Buddy sure had an action-packed day keeping tabs on the harrassing chipmunk. It sounds like you had a really nice 4th. How fun to go kayaking. I bet it was beautiful there.
Pretty flowers in a cute blue vase!
First time on your blog... loved the photos..... amazing.... and I am truly surprised at the thought of having a deer in the backyard.... goodness...
This humidity is brutal. I am hoping for cooler temps, when I get to Boothbay. Yes, I lived on the Cuckold's. My Dad was in the Coast Guard, and we lived there when I was 4 1/2 and 5 years old...(1954-55) There is quite a restoration project going on there. I met the couple who are headed up the project, last year. They took me out to the lighthouse, and wanted to hear some of my memories of living there. My Mom loved it there, and talked about it all her life, so she really kept the memories alive for me. I even had a letter to the editor published in the Boothbay newspaper, last year, about my life out there. I can't wait for Sat to get here, so we can head out! Let's hope it cools off some! Hugs, Kathleen
Cute chipmunk.....he he he, poor dog! LOL!
Cheryl
Seeing your deer, makes me miss my old house in Ohio. We backed up on a forest preserve. We had mama deer and babies all the time. They liked to eat my flowwers but I still loved watching them.
Hot and humid here too.
I almost don't even want to go out.
Have a nice weekend.
Your dog standing on his hind legs is so cute.
I presume it is illegal to hunt deers in your area.
Hi Cheryl! Another perfect shots huh?! So summer engulfs you now. I guess, heat and humidity is highly preferable than what we had yesterday.. a fierce typhoon! It left numerous death toll and destroyed lots of infrastructures!
Have a beautiful sunshiny day!
Wow! You live in a wonderful place with beautiful nature surrounding you. You can even see the deer at your backyard. It's just so amazing. Nice shots of the squirrel!
