Yesterday was another nice day. Buddy and I walked next door to the preserve and had a good walk. I spotted this bird at the very top of an apple tree in the meadow and thought it made a good photo against the gorgeous blue sky. When I uploaded my photos I was surprised and very delighted to see it was a bluebird! I have eagerly been watching for bluebirds this winter as we had two visit last January and February. What a wonderful surprise!
I was checking out the little bud on another tree in the meadow and was pleased to see a ladybug visiting as well.
Friday was an absolutely beautiful day, so warm and plenty of sunshine. We took a hike on a preserve and stopped to enjoy the brook splashing its way into the Damariscotta River. It was nice to sit in the sun and listen to the brook.

For a dog that does not like baths, Buddy certainly loves the cold water in a brook! He waded right into the water and tried to snatch sticks from it. Mark spent a long time throwing sticks for Buddy to fetch from the water. I am not sure who had the most fun.....we hiked along the brook and then into a marshland. I saw the first snake (horrors!) of the season that day. We heard the peepers in the marsh, a sure sign that spring is indeed here.
This is Bella. She came to visit a couple of times this weekend. Easter day when she visited she made herself right at home. Who could resist that face?
Buddy as usual ignores his company. However, when it came time to share a few dog treats, he promptly perked (and sat) up, making sure he didn't get left out.

what would we do with out our furbabies??? love the ladybug...but you probably knew that...
The bud on the tree must be very small because the ladybug looks large next to the bud. Great shot! You had a house full this weekend. I like how you have a picture and describe what the picture is and follow along in the sequence like that. I felt like I was on the walk with all of you!
oh WOW, that is a sweet set of dogs alright!
Great pictures!! The ladybug is cute too!!
Loved your pictures. I have a Buddy dog. I enjoyed Bella a lot as well.
I think you enjoyed your visitors more than Buddy did! We had bluebirds throughout most of the winter, but we are currently seeing more of them. I like your ladybug photo.
well, I'm sure Buddy can resist that face even if nobody else can! I love reading about how spoiled and loved he is in your comment today. :)
Great shots of the bird and ladybug! I have to say I'm glad there wasn't a picture of the snake! It sounds like Buddy and Mark had a lot of fun playing fetch.
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter! It seems like you had a houseful of dogs and family, so it sounds pretty good to me!
Bella looks really comfortable there:)Thanks for your sweet words on my site today.
I have Bluebirds nesting and have seen a few ladybugs, but no snakes yet!
The doggie expressions are so adorable!
Gosh Cheryl---your house is going to the dogs.... ha ha .... Cute doggies --alll three of them!!!! Glad they are welcome and can make themselves at home there.
Your hike along the water looked marvelous... But--seeing that snake... Yipes!!! Welcome to spring... ha
Have a great Wednesday.
Hugs,
Betsy
The ladybug pic is so awesome dear!
Yes, with so many dogs around, I do not know who has the most fun. LOL.
I loved your photos of the dogs. They are really pretty animals.
I LOVE Lady Bugs! Oh, and Bella, Bella, Bella! She's huge! I wish we could get her and Piper together! That sure was a cute picture of Buddy perking up for TREATS! LOL!!
Great pics as usual! I truly enjoyed them! :)
great nature photos and a fun dog party
I love those dogs. Wow. What fun they must be to have around.
Again, every time I read you blog and see all those beautiful nature pictures, it only makes me wish I live in a remote place like you. The air must be fresh not like city life, polluted air and non-stop noises.
Your doggie friends seem right at home. I haven't seen any of the wonderful sights of spring that you have, so I really enjoyed your photos.
where is the hammock where you have your profile photo? I went to a certain part of Auckland which is very fashionable, They were selling a hammock. I took a photo and thought of you.
Aw, no one can resist that face :)
And yes, I have tagged you on my 7 Things About Me [I've been tagged!] post
Good morning, Cheryl! I LOVE these photos--especially that one of the ladybug--it fills my eyes.
Thank you for your comments on the bird egg blog. I felt bad for the mother bird, but I think I felt worse than she did.
They are persistently trying every hole and cranny around our house. They're quite destructive.
Starlings are not native to our area and are a detriment to our native bird population. Starlings build their nests over the top of our native bird's nests. They also destroy property (like the 1ft long hole in our eaves).
The bird eggs didn't have chicks inside and appeared to be newly laid. To put them up high where the parent birds might find them would not insure their survival. More than likely the jays would eat them instead.
I do appreciate your kind and sensitive heart. ((hugs)) You are such a dear girl!
I've been slow about leaving a comment on this post because I'm so darned jealous of that bluebird you spotted! I haven't seen one yet this year, and I don't think I saw a single one last year. I think you've stolen them all.
Bella looks so lovable!
Deb: My furbaby was originally to be my son's but he was in college so Buddy became "our" baby. Love him!
Technobabe: Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I appreciate them very much!
Gary: Lovely trio of dogs indeed, but I think Budster is gonna need something to calm his nerves whenever one of the dogs comes to visit! He never learned to "play well"!
Together we save: Thank you for coming by!
Linda: Buddy dogs are great! Our Buddy is part Jack Russell Terrier and Min Pin. Quite a combo!
George: We did indeed enjoy the dogs visit MUCH more than Buddy.
Lucy the Cat: Thanks for always nice comments. I am afraid I am spoiling the other two dogs when they visit, they always go home with a dog toy or treat!
yonca: Hi, so pleased you visited!
Wanda: My dream is to have bluebirds nest here, I have several bluebird boxes on the property. You are very fortunate to have such a lovely area for the birds.
Rachna: Aren't dogs funny? I too love their expressions!
Betsy: Yes indeed we are going to the dogs here. Hope we have nice weather for another "excursion" like last weekend's!
shahana: Thanks for dropping by and leaving your nice comment!
rainfield61: I must say one dog is enough for us. But we enjoy the visiting dogs. Buddy goes along with us on all of our outdoor adventures.
Dez: I keep telling Ashton and Eric to watch out for Bella! I tell them about Piper's antics! Bella is all paws still! I could keep her for myself with no problem.
Lin Floyd: Glad you visited, know you are very busy these days!
Abraham: Well they are fun but its nice when they go home! Both visiting dogs can't understand why Buddy won't play with them. He only comes to about their chests!
Rose Belle: I am truly blessed to live where I do, and yes we have clean air, blue skies and not much noise as we live on about 5 acres of land in a small town. Maybe you can visit the east coast someday!
Brenda Kay Ledford: So nice to read your comment, and yes they are pretty dogs.
Barb: Welcome and glad you enjoyed. Each sign of spring I see is a treat to behold!
Ann: The hammock photo was taken at Sandals in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I would so love to have a hammock like that!
Bhavesh Chhatbar: You're very kind. Thank you for visiting. I have blogged about the tag game but couldn't just give it to 7, so I invited all my blogger friends to try it. Thanks again.
Beth Niquette: Oh thank you so much. I am so glad you explained about the eggs...I absolutely understand now. I am just in awe of what birds can do to nest! I wouldn't want that to happen to me, I thought having a chipmunk stealing the birdseed from the feeders was bad enough! Have a nice day!
Jean: You can enjoy the bluebird photo! I had hoped that the two from last January would be back but no sightings at all until I spotted the one in the tree. I will exchange one bluebird for one of your cardinals, how's that??
hi Cheryl, i tot your dog is black in color, Buddy, right? U have got yourself a new buddy? looks cute!
thats a real lovely dog. i love the little lady bird too.
Yoohoo ladybug & bud it rhymes, over here its commonly called ladybird though there's no feathers I wonder why "bird?". Nice lovely dogs, who let the dogs out woof woof..haha. tQ
Sounds like Buddy had a few good days, company, hiking, and fetching sticks. Hope he has a wonderful week-end along with his Mom & Dad, you of course and hubby.
I absolutely loved sharing your trip and your photos are beautiful. I also love the sound of peepers!!
did you have a dog party? Looks like Bella is homesick the way she is looking out of the window, Mummy come please.
This a nice collection of pictures. I think my favorite is Buddy sitting up for the treats. :) I really like that picture.
