Nice end to the day and an apology!

A few days ago we took a walk at Dodge Point. It was one of the nicer days of the week and even though somewhat cool, a very nice walk indeed. The first photo was taken as I was almost laying flat out on the trail, Mark stationed as my "look-out" in case walkers should come into sight! It wasn't a pretty sight I'm sure so I had to have a look-out! I was taking some photos of the dainty new ferns and while doing so I spotted a heart shape in these two ferns.

There were so many heart shaped rocks along the main trail to the shore. I lally-gag behind Mark more and more....just looking around me. In all the years I have walked I missed so much beauty around me I think by hurrying along. Lately I have slowed down and enjoyed all that is to be found around us.

We love the shore at the end of one of the trails. The trail comes to the Damariscotta River which is tidal. We were there at low tide on Wednesday. I did a post some time ago about the former brickyard that was located there many, many years ago. Mark's grandmother has told us about her father coming here from Sweden in his teens and working at one of the brickyards along the river. It is nice to be able to walk about where perhaps Mark's relatives worked. There are still intact bricks buried in the mud and so many pieces of bricks scattered about. Its amazing how they manage to stay in that location after so many years and so many tides!

The "boys" roaming the shoreline, its low tide in this photo.

I must apologize to all those whose blogs I follow. I have been sooo far behind in reading them but didn't want anyone to think I'd stopped reading them. I have been diagnosed (FINALLY) with (as my mother and grandmother would say) with "what ails me" and I have been taking some time off from blogging and following blogs. I have been doing some research and will get back to ALL of your blogs very soon! I do sincerely look forward to catching up on all of the wonderful blogs I follow! Have a great weekend!

Hi Cheryl, the baby fern picture is amazing. It's so delicate and perfect.

I love the moss-covered heart-shaped rock! I'm becoming convinced that all heart-shaped rocks reside in Maine, but I'm determined to find one some day.

The shoreline is so pretty. I guess it wouldn't be comfortable in bare feet though.

I hope everything is ok with your health! Whatever it is, I'm glad you got a diagnosis. I know how frustrating it can be to have something going on and the doctors can't find an answer.

Cheryl, I sent you a thank-you note via Facebook. I hope you got it because I want you to know how much I appreciate your card and donation for Bucky.

Collection of heart-shaped stones is quite a nice, interesting hobby not only because of the beauty of the stones but also because it kind of forces you to take long walks and have a good look around you discovering the many facets of Nature.

Have a wonderful weekend!

What a nice walk that was and how observant you were to spot all of the hearts. This is a good lesson in slowing down and really looking at what is around us.

Like you, I am at a place in my life that I don't want to hurry here and there. I want to see all there is to see. Relish each treasure, and there are many if I look. Whatever you are going through right now, I wish you courage and strength to maintain the happiness in your life.

I'm like you, I seem to get further and further behind in my reading. Not sure what my problem is, perhaps I play too many games on Facebook, I love competing with friends.

You certainly don't have to apologize for taking some needed time off from blogging. I'm finding more and more things to do which keep me away from my computer as well, but I am endeavoring to keep up. I enjoyed being along on your walk and seeing all the hearts you found along the way.

Hi Cheryl, that first pic, I believe the plant is called 'fiddlesticks'? If it is, it makes a delicious salad.
Love your heart stones.
I do hope whatever 'ails' you is nothing serious.
Here's wishing you well, and a quick recovery.
You stay easy, Cheryl, and keep a song in your heart, Lee.

Isn't it amazing how when you're in the mode those hearts just jump out at you. Nice job, but my favorite is that top one of the fern. Great color and detail.

I'm catching up after a week away.
Maybe slowing down out of necessity isn't such a bad thing after all. I'll hold on to that.
