Saturday morning we headed out on the water at 8:30 to do some paddling along the coastline. We were accompanied by Benjamin (my middle child) and his girlfriend Allison. The ocean was flat calm and so glassy as we started out. The breeze was just perfect and one couldn't have asked for a lovelier day.

Instead of people-watching we like to "cottage-watch". Some of the summer homes on the coast are amazing!
We headed towards a ledge that was covered with seals and on the way we spotted several Harbor Porpoises. That was a first and we were delighted with their "show". Every so often a seal would poke his/her head up through the water and check us out. Ben had a close-up of one that surfaced about three feet from his kayak.
Yes indeed, a beautiful day on the water...very relaxing!

the water looks so serene and calm.. but kayaking is not for me.. i dont know how to swim so i fear the water! lol.. how i wish i could overcome that fear..

Hi Cheryl, I love boats, boating but for some reason quite apprehensive about getting into a kayak. Guess my balancing not to standard, ha ha.
You sure take great pictures. Love the beautiful pics, and the colours.....all I can say is, Holy Smoke! Wish I was there, but not in a kayak.....maybe throwing a line for fish, ha ha.

It looks as if you had a perfect day for kayaking. I think I could get into 'cottage watching' with no problems at all. The color of the ocean is gorgeous in all of your pictures. Your first picture is absolutely magnificent.

Obviously, your weather has been good up there... We loved our trip to VA ---mainly due to the mild weather.
