Here are two photos of pileated woodpeckers that I took over a month ago during a big rain storm.

Now there is no snow to be found anywhere. For the past two days we have had heavy wind and rain. The creek is overflowing and the side lawn looks almost like a swimming pool. However by Friday the forecast is calling for close to 70 degree temps. Yay!

Spotted this little heart in a dead tree on the preserve next door. The woodpeckers are getting quite artistic!

Caught a glimpse of a mink on the bank of the brook. He crawled up onto the bank and shook himself off just like a dog does! He was very kind in letting me snap a few photos.

Miss Bella came to visit again. She is growing fast. She always leaves with a treat and a toy. It was fun to watch her with the ball, she "batted" it around and chased it for quite a while. Meanwhile Buddy just sat beside Mark, ignoring Bella. He doesn't like to share "his family" with another dog.

Courtney, my oldest son, found this rock for me. Its perfect for my indoor collection of heart-shaped rocks. We have two large jars filled with them.

I couldn't resist purchasing this gorgeous hydrangea today. It is so cheerful against the bleakness of the day.

Here is Buddy looking out the window at the puddles. Do you suppose he was thinking "rain, rain go away" like the rest of us are?

Wonderful pictures. I think we're all saying "rain, rain, go away."
Great pictures Cheryl, love the one of the dog and your flower purchase is so pretty. Wanda will like your rock heart...:-) Hugs
I was looking at the woodpeckers picture and wondering kind of bird it was. So that's how woodpeckers look like! Seems like you guys still have a bit of ice from the winter. How nice will that be this weekend with a 70 degree weather :)
The hydrangea are a beautiful color. I know they make you smile every time you look at them. I appreciate your photos.
I love your photos of the woodpeckers and the mink. Miss Bella has grown! Poor Buddy! I love your heart-shaped rock. It’s perfect. The hydrangea is so pretty. I would love to have some myself but Lucy always gets in flowers.
OH! My goodness, you are such a great story teller :)
I've been hearing about all the rain coming down in New England -- I hope it doesn't cause you any problems. I also hope you get that sunshine by the week's end. I enjoyed your pictures very much.
Hope you aren't getting too much of the flooding that is going on in parts of New England. Gads---that is terrible. Buddy is saying "Rain Rain Go Away".... I heard him---or maybe that was you saying that!!!! ha
I cannot believe that you have found so many hearts... You are just drawn to them... I love the rock your son gave you... That is special.
I've never seen a mink in real life. That is neat!!!!
Lovely hydrangeas.
Hugs,
Betsy
I'm sure Buddy is saying rain, rain go away! Either that or was he making sure Bella had left? Great photos of the woodpeckers and mink!!
love the red of the woodpeckers...in your mostly black and white photos.
Hi Cheryl...I found a few heart shapes in the trees yesterday too, haven't posted them yet though. Bernie is right, I love the heart rock your son found and your hydrangea is perfect for Easter.
Smiles...Wanda

Great pics, Cheryl. I loved the ones of the woodpeckers and the perfect heart-shaped stone. I have never come across one myself, or maybe I did not look with the diligence that you have.
what a wonderful find! the heart shaped stone.. difficult to come by.. yes, i guess Buddy is waiting for the rain to stop so that he can go out to enjoy the spring.. :)
A big YAY! from me too, for you :)

Cheryl, Your photos of the pileated are award-winning. Honestly. Submit them and sit back on your laurels. Where you should submit them, I don't know, but they MUST be submitted.

It looks like I've missed a few of your posts some how. I love woodpeckers they are really cool birds. It's great to see a mink too because the only ones that I've ever seen were on a hanger a department store.
Hello Cheryl
Just catching up on your blog - the fur on that mink looks delicious - is it true they smell a bit on the high side? Buddy is a funny oneosn't he
Take care
Cathy
I suppose the hydrangea is a hot house one. Outside in my garden, the hydrangea are still blooming. Your pink hydrangea is so beautiful.
Do dogs mind the rain?
