Reflections

I snapped this photo of Ashton when we were at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens several weeks ago. This was THE BIG DAY, the day of "The Taking of Senior Pictures" that she had been looking forward to FOREVER! Both my sons were very blase about having their pictures done their senior year as in "who cares what they wear", "just get it done and over with", "I'll take care of it", "it's no big deal", etc., etc. Courtney had a formal sitting (my request) for his photo and Ben's was done at his favorite place, the golf course (his choice). Their photos were great, on time for yearbook deadlines, photos made up for special people in their lives and that was that.

Well, it's a different story for Miss Muffett! The hair had to be trimmed at exactly the right time so it would be the perfect length, "yikes, there is a 'thingy' on my face", "I want to change into several different outfits", "they are my photos", etc., etc., and so forth and so on. Meanwhile I thought it would be just as easy to go to Sears, Wal-Mart, etc. somewhere where there would be someone else IN CHARGE and get the pictures done quickly, nicely and be just what we all were looking (hoping?) for. The studio photographer would tell her exactly what good old Mom had/would/should of said and Ashton would agree so easily and we would all come away with our own personal victory...But that idea was quickly squashed by you-know-who....

My one small victory is that Ashton did agree to have the photos taken at the gardens, or at least scout the site out and see if it would meet her specifications. However I think at this stage of the game she was as worn out by the process as I was and just said lets do them at the gardens, period! Yay, one point for Mom.

I wanted Ashton to see the beautiful reflecting basin/pool that was located in the Meditation Gardens. I am truly amazed at the beauty and peacefulness of that particular garden and its centerpiece of the basin. I took several photos of her gazing into the water. This particular shot draws me in and I love it, it seems peaceful and symbolizes to me my daughter both inside and out. I find it captures one fleeting moment in time that I will always treasure in my heart. I love you Tunny Buns.

That IS a great shot, Cheryl. The basin seems to have a marble lining, doesn't it? Very unique and a great spot for a photo.
