Snowshoeing and finding hearts.

This is a glimpse into my backyard. Buddy and I have been taking advantage (well, I have, he just trots along for moral support!) of the snow coating the ground. The above photo shows some of the tidal stream that flows through our property. The cold temps have formed a thin layer of ice on the brook and it shifts when the tide changes.First of several hearts I have spotted over the past couple of days. This heart is broken into many pieces....Ice covering the stream, smooth as a mirror but not thick enough to step on. In the lower left side of the photo there is a white "spot" which I photographed and you will see below...This photo is of a leaf frozen into the ice. It looks pretty with the frosty edging all around it.Another photo of the thin ice that is covering the stream and its banks. This photo is looking towards our home. This huge piece of ice was so pretty with the sun shining upon it. The beauty of the outdoors more than makes up for the cold weather. This is a neat heart I think. The bygone flower seems to have a protective heart around it. Here's a frosty heart. We have had a day or two of temps in the teens and today felt almost summer-ish at a warm 30 degrees! I am hoping we do get some more snow so I can continue with snowshoeing, hope to get out into the woods when there is more snow.

There is a human face on top of the broken heart.

He seems to be so sad.

It's so pretty there! 30 degrees?! Today here was in the 60's. Sigh. Anyway, I love your pictures and hearts and am so envious of your winter and snow shoeing.

The leaf with the frosty edging is a great shot. You have a way of finding the best hearts in nature, and now leaves too.

The hearts are so cute, but the leaf on the ice is stunning! Great winter series!

Photos are nice and pretty, but look oh so cold. It seems as Abe and I get older, we chill quicker and take longer to warm up again. Perhaps we need a thermal suit to wear and a switch that says, warm, extra warm, and down right hot. LOL

Hi Cheryl, my goodness you were almost in my back yard at Port Clyde. I may take a ride down
by you soon. I have to go to Brunswick to a DR and maybe Falmouth. Gosh it's a long ride..
Suns out and I am waiting for Boston to win.

Beautiful! I really miss the snow. It's been 80F and above several times in the last month.

I've never tried snowshoeing but I hope to someday.
