On a perfect Maine summer day in August Mark and I took a walk out onto the Rockland Breakwater. This has been on my "to-do list" for years and years and finally my dream came true! Its about a mile walk out and back and we couldn't have chosen a better day...a sunny day with a light seabreeze.

Spotted the windmills on one of the islands off from Rockland. A beautiful Windjammer taking people for a sail as well as lots of little boats here and there.

I love this lighthouse. It has been carefully restored and well-maintained. Thank you to those who keep such treasures so that we all can enjoy.

We joined lots of other people who had walked out to the end of the breakwater and circled the whole building. Lots of people were sitting on the rocks (at the high tide level) enjoying the view. We could have stayed for hours.

No matter how many times I see lobster traps I am still fascinated by them and their various colors. All lobstermen have their own buoy colors.

We slowly walked back over the breakwater to shore. This little trip will stay in my memories and I got to cross an item off my "to-do list"!

And guess what, there were a few heart stones here and there....

What a glorious day you had, Cheryl! Have a wonderful weekend and a successful Black Friday if you dare to venture out.
Mornin' Cheryl, I trust you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Your lighthouse pics are great. If you get a chance go online and check out the Rose Island Lighthouse in R.I. If you like lighthouses you can stay there overnight and it's a great experience. Mike took me as a surprise when we first met back in 1997ish. Enjoy your day. It's beautiful here today.
Wooo, nice place for fishing.....would love this place!
The "hearts" follow you wherever you go.
It looks like you had a fabulous day trip.
The blue colors of sky and water are amazing. The boats and lighthouse - really cute. And as for the heart-stone - lucky you - it's a very nice piece.
What a beautiful interlude - to be suddenly swept into summer by the sea!
The windmills on the island and sailboats made a beautiful photo, Cheryl! Loved the heart!

holy cats tis beautiful :)
I'm imagining standing there to feel the sea breeze! It's just amazing to find heart-shape rock many times in the outing :-)

What a lovely day. I love the beauitiful photos of the beach and the ocean. So lovely. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful experience.
Thanks for taking us along with you on your walk along the breakwater. I really like the looks of the breakwater itself and the lighthouse at the end. I also like that tall ship you captured. I would have loved to be there with you in person.
Your beautiful pictures of Maine reminded me that it's time for me to take a trip there soon !
Even the name of your state conjures up lovely pictures for me. I traveled through Maine many years ago and was impressed with the people and the natural beauty. I have enjoyed your blog tremendously and your photos and words are my sight seeing tours of Maine. A mile of a heavenly walk as shown in your post.
Love the shots of Maine, a lovely tour, which I vicariously enjoyed.
That is why I like blogging. On days I have little to say, I love to peruse those blogs in places I will probably never see.
Then I realize there are others like me who may never see my neck of the woods, or enjoy the same vacation I just enjoyed in my old age.
This post has me wanting to head there next summer. Been nearby at St. John's in New Brunswick on the Bay of Fundy. The tide there is awesome!!
Always wanted to see Maine, this was a beautiful post. Makes me long for summer, but in Maine NOT Georgia! :-)

I love the images! :)
You certainly captured the beauty of the day, and the beauty of the place. For some reason, the photo of the floating buoys intrigues me the most.
Hi Cheryl, Just stopping by to say Merry Christmas to you and yours. I love keeping up with you on FB--but miss your blogs.
Love,
Betsy
