A field trip to the Fryeburg Fair

On Friday Mark and I took another "field trip", this one to the Fryeburg Fair. Fryeburg is located near the Maine state line with New Hampshire. Its a beautiful area and we had lovely views of the mountains and the foliage was beautiful.
We checked out an exhibition hall filled with wagons of all kinds. I liked the popcorn wagon.
A colorful midway...and packed with people. This was about the only open space I spotted! It was a clear, cool day and perfect for wandering about the fairgrounds.
Can I have one please?
We enjoyed the 4-H exhibition hall. There were lots of cows, sheep and goats. I could spend most of the day looking at the animals.
There were all kinds of exhibits...from Christmas trees to tractor trailer trucks, metal roofing, saunas, craft halls and motorcycles, lawn mowers and of course dozens and dozens of food booths. There were Thai, Chinese, Philippine and Greek food booths, fudge, waffle cones full of homemade ice cream, apple crisps, pies, fried dough and funnel cakes and of course hot dogs, pizza and hamburgers. I couldn't believe my eyes when we passed a fried whoopee pie booth! I did manage to do some Christmas shopping at one of the craft booths. I purchased a scarf for Ashton and the nice lady at the booth showed me how to tie the scarf I was wearing in a different way! Now thats what I call great customer service!
Mark had to try some food from here...he had lived in the Philippines when he was a young boy and loved the native food.
There were several pet booths...this doggie bakery had some yummy looking treats! I was almost tempted to take a sample...
And as a brand new grandpuppyparent I couldn't resist buying our new grandpup Bode (he is 10 weeks old, a goldendoodle)a fleece jacket for upcoming winter walks. All in all, we had a wonderful day in the outdoors. Now to think of an idea for our next field trip....

That all sounds wonderful, I just have one question. That picture of the Christmas trees, they aren't selling trees this early are they?

Oregon produces a lot of Christmas trees and I love driving out in the country to watch the workers harvesting them.

Fairs are so much fun, aren't they. Looking at everything and tasting, too. Nice images.

Hi Linda, the trees must have been on display for Christmas orders. When I first saw them I thought my goodness nothing like buying your tree early!

Fairs are the best - except maybe for the fried whoopee pies! Yours had a little bit of everything. I like Bode's jacket.

Glad you guys had a great time. You know you were in my neck of the woods. Norway is on the way to Fryeburg unless you came by 302 then I'm only half hour east. Should have come for coffee.

Well, shoot. Now I wish we had gone to Fryeburg Fair this year. I'm not sure it's even legal to deep-fry a whoopie pie. It sounds sacrilegious to me. Bode's now winter coat will be just the ticket, won't it? He's lucky to have a generous and thoughtful grandpuppyma,''

I thought I can, but never until the end.

Where is the heart?

Cheryl said...

rainfield61: Ah...you are always on the lookout and I am sad to say I didn't spot any hearts..however I just went back and looked at the photos, I think there is a heart on the Philippine Food Wagon, in between the crossed palm trees. What do you think?

Hi Cheryl, travelled to your blog from a post on Elaine's Artic View blog. We are on an extended road trip through Maine from our home on the VA eastern shore. We read about the Fryeberg Fair but couldn't make it, so it was great to read about it on your blog AND to see all the photos.

We are posting our Maine road trip adventure on our blog, please feel free to drop-in. We enjoy back door visitors. http://thefrogandpenguinn.blogspot.com/

The name Freiburg takes me back to a town with the same name I've visited in Germany many years ago.

The animals at the Fair are lovely to look at. Food is of course a major attraction at every Fair.

Glad you and your hubby enjoyed the day at the Fair.

Hi Cheryl, beautiful pics. I love the sheep with the license plate numbers, ha ha. Why the numbers?

I have not gone to a fair can't remember when, ha ha.
You have fun, and keep well, Lee.
