Several weeks ago we took a trip to the North New Portland Fair. It is located near my home town. Its a small fair but as a child I always looked forward to attending it. Its been many years since I have been and my mom joined us for the day.

The food booths were so brightly decorated. I especially liked the candy apple booth. I had to sample a piece of fried dough!

We strolled through the Exhibition Hall. I loved seeing all of the lovely handiwork, knit items, baked goods and especially all the preserves. Looks as if it was a good year for growing vegetables.

We watched a lumberjack contest....

Strolled down the fairway past the game booths....

I was tempted to ride the carousel!

But would never ever ride on the Zipper!

The livestock tent had all kinds of animals in it....you could even buy a goose or a duck for your very own!

I loved the momma donkey and her little one....a touching scene to me.

Oh the little piglets were so cute!

What nicely decorated milk cans filled with gorgeous flowers!

And look what I found as we were leaving, a metal heart!

Small town fairs are the best!
What fun! Fairs are so wonderful. I love seeing all of the hand made items and foods. Thanks for the great images.
why buy a goose or duck when you can buy a PIGLET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you feel so happy at a fair, that's no way you can drop your heart.
LOL.
What a great fair! I love those milk cans. I love all those veggies, and I bet there was some nice crafts.
I think you're going to a fair tomorrow. I hope it's as good as this one and you have a wonderful time!
Looks like a very colorful fair. I think we all like fairs and we never cease to be children, so we enjoy riding the carousel and watching the domestic animals just as you did.
I'm glad you had a terrific time at this town fair.
Looks wonderful to have a walk and snapping some pictures... and looking out for HEARTS! :p
I used to attend the county fair every year when I was growing up. I was in the 4-H and exhibited livestock, but I would always check out the other exhibits as well. I did ride the rides, but we didn't have a Zipper back then.
Hi Cheryl...That is a nice way to spent a fall day reliving those childhood memories and good company to do it with!!
Yes Momma and baby donkey "is" a touching scene!
Man fried dough YUM!!
Hi Cheryl, Looks like a fabulous fair... Like you, I wouldn't ride the Zipper --but I would want to see all of the animals.
The Lumberjack contest must have been fun to watch. And I would want to sample that fried dough also..
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy
what a great fall activity to visit the fair...
love the cute little piglets.
I love this type of fair, lots of nice food! Interesting lumberjack events!
Oh what lovely pictures!!! I especially like the animals and like you said, the donkeys are especially touching. Although if I were there, I might come home with a piglet as well!!
The idea of a fair itself is so much fun. Great pics too! The donkeys, pigs, and ducks are so cute.
What a fun fair! We went to a fair last week.My son loved it:)
Beautiful pics!
It looks like a wonderful time! It makes me wish that I went to the fair around here a while back.
This fair looks like a nice size, plenty to see and eat and not so big you have to spend three days to see it all.
Looks like you had a wonderful time. The walking gets to me. And there is no way Abe could handle the walking and I'm not about to try pushing him in a wheel chair, have a hard enough time myself, just walking. But it would be nice to sample some of the food stands.
How fun!! Our State fair is going on but not sure if we will make it.
Nice fair! So many things to see and buy! I love those cute donkeys. Not a lot of them are seen around here eh!
what about the piglets, are they for sale?
I will certainly buy the goose, she is so much more value for money. even as a layer, goose eggs are much bigger than duck eggs.
I love going to a Fair.We call it FunFair here..Love all your photos and I am tempted to ride the carousel too :)
What colorful booths! I haven't been to the fair for years. The mom and baby donkey were special as was the blue ribbon display of produce and creations!
Yae! You actually managed to find another heart. I have not been to a fair in....forever. Thanks for showing us a good time.
Oh the Fryeburg Fair. I have been coming to FF since I migrated here in Maine. And yes, the Kabayan is a must for me. thanks for sharing.
