Walking on the Zak Preserve

I've been having a "mini pity party" the last couple of days. Today I cancelled the "party" and headed outside to enjoy the sunny day. My faithful companion BuddyTheElf is always glad to take a walk so we headed across the brook for a walk on the Zak Preserve. Hmmm...which way to go? Lets do the walk opposite of what we usually do....its a big loop anyways.
Yes, the leaves are beginning to change here and there, Mother Nature has begun to decorate for autumn.
What's this? Oh my! A heart-shaped rock in the pine needles.

The trail that I usually follow is about 1 1/2 miles. There are lots of exposed roots so I have to keep an eye out so I won't end up sprawled out on the trail!

Here's a bit of cheer!
Coming out of the woods back into the big meadow full of sunshine....our house is in the upper middle part of this photo. I think we have one of the best backyards with a brook, marsh and plenty of wildlife.
Lots of milkweed in the meadow.
The grass in the meadow is starting to look "fallish". Lots of goldenrod and asters here, natural bouquets of flowers to brighten one's day.
One of several bird boxes on the property.
Heading home, back along the side of the road. You can see where we have worn a path alongside the guardrails. Buddy is always on his leash so we can walk safely alongside the road. The path spans Wildcat Creek.
I stopped about halfway across the "path" to snap this photo of our home. The brook was so still and reflected the pretty blue of the September sky. It was a nice walk indeed. No more pity parties for me!

It's always wise to cancel pity parties, Cheryl! And you and Buddy certainly proved the benefits of doing so. He's a good, spirited hiking partner, isn't he?

Nothing to break up a pity party like a nice walk in the woods. It's so exciting to see colorful leaves falling. You do indeed live in a beautiful place.

Your golderod is a little farther along than ours, Cheryl. Love the tall pine on the preserve trail and of course...the heart! Glad your pity party wasn't a long one and you got out for that walk. My walks keep me happy too.

Your home is so pretty. What a beautiful place you live in!

Wow, the fall colors are already making an appearance there. It's such a pretty, golden time. I also love the fall look on your blog. Very cute!

The wooded area with all the trees look like such a nice place to walk. How nice to see Buddy enjoying himself. I'm so glad the "pity party" is over. I've hosted a few of those myself.

I wish I had that kind of room around my place. Glad you're feeling more happy again. As to the fall colors appearing on some of the trees, I look at those with mixed emotions, as always.

Hi Cheryl, you sure take breathtaking photos.
I love that home with the brook. Would love have a home like that, rare Koy fish.
Where you are really Paradise, far away from the maddening crowd.
Compare this to New York, Manhatten...
this is Shangrila, ha ha.

Cheryl, you saw that movie, 'Guess who's coming for dinner'?
If free drop by my shack, you'll never guess who's coming for dinner. Ha ha.
Have a nice day, Lee.

Together We Save: I meant one and one half mile walk!

Diana: Glad you found me and enjoyed your first visit. I shall visit you soon.

Ann: The dog is very spoiled, he is an indoor dog and gets to walk on such beautiful land! If I didn't have him I wouldn't get out as much as I do (and should!).
