We have been busy the past couple of weeks. The Saturday before Labor Day Mark and I took a hike at Linekin Preserve.

We enjoyed some quiet time by the small pond there.

There is a nice trail through the woods. I am fascinated by the log stairway someone carefully constructed so one can climb up over a big ledge.

Found several heart-shaped stones.

My "baby" turned 19 on the 7th. Time is rushing by...

We took a long hike at Ovens Mouth West which is located here in Boothbay on Friday. It was about a three mile hike. The weather was perfect for our hike, clear and a little cool.

Imagine....a stone shaped like a heart!

The trail is very rocky and climbs up high along a ledge. There are parts of the trail that run along the sharp edges of ledge and one must pay careful attention!

There is nothing prettier in the woods than ferns. There are several kinds on this trail and they are so green, even though its September.

One of my favorite "hearts".

This heart-shaped stone looked as if it had been carefully carved out and placed alongside the trail. Perhaps Mother Nature had this one special made!

Buddy has enjoyed the cooler weather we're experiencing. The last week has been about twenty degrees cooler during the day. The humidity is gone and its beginning to feel like fall.

I spotted these clouds while sitting at my computer early one evening. I have been trying to catch up on all the blogs I follow. I can read one or two at a time. One of the effects of fibromyalgia is "fibro fog" and I have unfortunately been in it-alot! I promise to be around to check out your blogs, slowly but surely! My
Aunt Jean, my mom and I took a trip to visit their older brothers last week. It was nice to listen to them as they got "caught up" with each other. Many memories were shared and I enjoyed learning more about my mother's family.

I took a walk next door on the Land Trust trail with BuddytheElf this morning. I spotted this heart-shaped cloud over the farm that adjoins the trail.

I was delighted to spot these purple asters in the meadow.

Ashton and I made a trip to her college bookstore. She is in her second year. She goes to school two full days a week and works one 12 hour shift each week on the medical/surgical floor at a nearby hospital. All we see is a blur when she comes home!

Hi Cheryl...you never cease to amaze me with your heart shape finds!!
The stairs cut into the log is ingenious!! How novel is that!!
I have noticed my cats are seeking warmer snuggling spots too, just like Buddy the Elf !! : }
Beautiful purple aster, and beautiful daughter too!! : }
Beautiful photos, Cheryl. And the hearts are just everywhere. You know, everytime I'm out and about and see a heart shape in something I take a photo of it and think of you. I should probably forward them to you..........LOL It's like when I see a beautiful marsh setting I think of artist Dianna Poindexter and have even started calling that type of scene "a Poindexter." Have a wonderful evening!
Hi Cheryl,
It's good to "see" you! It feels like it's been a while.
I love all the heart-shaped items you found--from rocks to clouds to tree trunks! They're all so lovely. I can never get tired of seeing hearts in nature through your blog!
Buddy looks so sweet in his chair. I love that view from your computer. The clouds are beautiful.
Yes, time goes so quickly! Those are nice pictures of Ashton. It sounds like a nice visit you had with your family. We really have to treasure those times because we can never get them back.
Today it's been raining here off and on all day. I do hope fall is getting closer.
Hi Cheryl, We understand when you can't visit us as often as you like. Just take care of yourself.
Sounds like you have been busy with hiking, with family, etc... Love seeing your hikes ---and the trails look like so many that George and I hike on... I too love ferns.
Glad your Mom and Aunt got to visit with their brothers. How neat!!!! Hope you took alot of notes!
There will be an interesting heart on my blog tomorrow... Check it out if you can.
Hugs,
Betsy
Really enjoyed the walk past the reflecting pond, the fern and all the heart shapes. I found a nice heart down by the creek on my last walk, I haven't posted yet though.
Your daughter is lovely, enjoy that blur of her and Autumn, Cheryl.
You have had a very busy couple of weeks! It looks as if you had a couple of great hikes and you did find some heart-shaped rocks.
A belated Happy Birthday to Ashton.
if there's a heart to be found, you'll find it. beautiful photos of lovely hikes...enjoy the fall it's coming.
I can relate to the blurr...our daughter is the same way...school full time...teaching dance...taking dance....great photos.....
What a heart-felt walk! It still looks very green there. We are fast turning golden here in the Mts. Hope you enjoy the cooler temps.
These photos are wonderful especially the reflection and your favorite heart ia amazing!
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 11 years ago but I never really looked up any info about it. I just looked up "fibro fog" and it explains a lot. I can relate!
Have a great week!
Your daughter is so beautiful and wish her a very happy birthday. The pics are lovely, as always.
The world is full of "love".

James: Hope you are doing well with the fibro. It has been a big adjustment for me, learning how much I can do before I end up miserable for several days. I was just glad to get an "answer" via the diagnosis. Take care.

The heart shaped stone is beautiful.. yes, it is a natural.. :) Happy Birthday greetings to your sweet daughter...
Nice! You really spotted a number of ♥s in nature. I guess I too can spot a number of it, only I did not give full attention to them. Maybe next time :)
Such lovely photos, Cheryl. Ashton is so gorgeous! I'm always amazed at the number of hearts you find in nature. You are obviously full of love.
Hi Cheryl, as usual your creative photography is outstanding, and same time breathtaking too.
I love that lake pic with it's serene reflections. You got the pic just right.
Have fun, Cheryl.....best regards, lee.
I found an enlongated love heart stone. I said, I will take a photo and post it for Cheryl.
Guess what?
It was in my dream.
So you just have to imagine the stone. It was long and thin. My students tell me that it is a love heart, not a human heart as the learn about the mummification and the God Anubis.
arlee bird: Thanks for stopping by and glad you enjoyed!

Hi Cheryl, enjoyed your blog, mostly because we have a love for nature in common. Oh, and hearts, I love hearts, but haven't found them in the unusual places you have. I'll have to start looking!
Hi Cheryl, have you seen that movie, 'The King and I"?
It's showing in my place, drop by when free, Lee.
